Do swingers still exist, ie outside 1970s French films that is..

I just saw the Paddys Day Simpsons, where the new Simpson hot tub attracted dodgy swingers - Mrs Crabopolis and the fat Dr making an appearance. Do swingers actually exist tho? Like, really, who actually shares their partners? I've not met ANY couples I'd like to swop with, though maybe I am picky, and actually, swinging is a really interesting and active social scene.

Yes it goes on a lot and a guy I was seeing must have thought I was up for it, started texting me all sorts to see what my views were on it etc. Dropped him like a hot brick. I know another lady although you'd never think of her as that way inclined... but she and her husband 'swing'. I always feel like sitting her down and plying her with questions about it (nasty curiosity) but refrain... She talks more openly with my sister about it and she seems to do as her hubby tells her so I don't know if she's bulldozed into it to keep him happy or what. Not my scene but different strokes for different folks... I wouldn't want to share my dearest with anyone.

I can't find the original article but is the place

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 20/03/2009 14:02

Sorry here I mean

MrsMattie · 20/03/2009 14:02

Oh that Louis Theroux thing made it look so unsexy.

jumpingbeans · 20/03/2009 14:06

Oh fuck, i had a big pampus grass in my front garden in the late 70's, now i know why everyone wanted to come in for coffee, they were wating for a bloody invite to a swoppy

ohdearwhatamess · 20/03/2009 14:06

There is a very active swingers scene in a nearby village. All the members are in their 50s or older. They have a cake rota.

A friend of mine and her dh were invited along (but declined).

BitOfFun · 20/03/2009 14:07

I had no idea about the pampas grass - I've seen that loads aswell

I don't know much about swinging, but I can tell you there is a beach carpark near me that is very popular with doggers...DP and I were oblivious to this and were enjoying a bit of action in the back seat in the early hours after a party. I opened the window for some fresh air, and some fella tried to get in the car!!

Openinig your car window is the signal it seems...

Devendra · 20/03/2009 14:09

The swingers scene is huge and there is a large spectrum of what people like to do from meeting with one other couple or going to parties.. I met my DP on a swingers website (lots of single people swing) and we have been very happy together for 5 years!

poshwellies · 20/03/2009 14:11

Now, dogging is just odd!

Isn't there a code or something-windows open and you can join in or touch ..windows shut but lights on and you can just watch and do your business?!!

Farking strange!

Has there been a increase in sales at the carwash?

BitOfFun · 20/03/2009 14:14

Well this bloke got a swift kick to the knackers from me, and then DP got out to see him off (he left very quickly)...but I have to giggle imagining him consulting his little guidebook disconsolately and shaking his head - "I'm sure it said that window down meant join in?"

FigmentOfYourImagination · 20/03/2009 14:19

DD's primary school has pampas in the front

27T · 20/03/2009 14:21

Do they do the 70's car key thing in a bowl still?

Yes - I swapped my Moped for a Range Rover that way.

BitOfFun · 20/03/2009 14:22

Bargain! Did you have to provide a man with a moustache as deposit though?

poshwellies · 20/03/2009 14:22

27T

27T · 20/03/2009 14:23

No - I didn't even take the wife along. I was dropping off a pizza.

MitchyInge · 20/03/2009 14:47

jumpingbeans · 20/03/2009 14:49

What are they?

LynetteScavo · 20/03/2009 14:56

Have you MitchyInge?

I've never been invited let alone attended one. What are they?

MitchyInge · 20/03/2009 14:57

I haven't, know a couple of people in Radlett tho - it's just the first thing that came to mind when I read the thread title:

Radlett Parties

QueenofHerts · 20/03/2009 15:11

Bloody hell Mitchy!!!
I know where that is - I see the back of that house every day from the mainline train into London!!!

Well that'll brighten up my commute!

QueenofHerts · 20/03/2009 15:12

Disclaimer - I am NOT a swinger...

BalloonSlayer · 20/03/2009 16:18

Buggering hell, I'll have to "clear history" now I've clicked on that link!

Bumblelion · 20/03/2009 16:31

Reading about that 'dogging' thing, I can remember going to a car park with my boyfriend (then to be husband, now ex-husband) and another couple.

We got down to the business (were about 17) in my husband's (company) van, one couple in front and one couple in back.

I can remember looking up to see a man w**king at the window. Remember we were all only about 17 (my boyfriend started driving lessons on his birthday and passed soon after).

My boyfriend's friend (male) was quite a large guy and got out of the car and started chasing this guy through the woods with a large piece of wood.

Me and my friend were both really scared, as was my boyfriend, but now looking back, perhaps we had just parked in the wrong place and inadvertenly put the light on or opened the window
