Please give me the low down on vibrators (pun intended)

Ok, am a regular but this is my "shy" name. dh and I have always had a good sex life, but was thinking about livening things up a bit. I never masturbate. ever. but was in Ann summers t'other day looking at some underwear (returning some that dh bought me for valentines) and my eye strayed to the... enjoyment sector.

but don't know where to start. dont want to dive straight into the 12" high speed dildo region.

be gentle with me, please

well first of all you need to address the issue of never masturbating (omg you are missing out big time!!), until you've "helped yourself" you wont really know what you'll like

Vibrators are a bit scary, some rabbits are evil! I'd think you would be better off with something small that buzzes!!

good luck and have fun

fattiemumma · 19/02/2009 19:10

the feel of a vibrator is very very different to that of a man or indeed yourself.

I would advise going for a mid range clitoral stimulator. my pesonal recommendation would be the Serena

it is cheap and cheerfull and not frightening in size. yet it is powerful enough for you to get teh desired response.

use it against your clitoris either alone or whilst enjoying regular sex with your Dh.

once you have gotten used to the feel of a vibrator you can go back and explore with different styles and differrent feels.
it sounds odd but different vibrators vibrate in different ways.

but yes, once your comfortable and confident, you want a rabbit

The first one I ever tried (back when you had to attach the wires to the hamster's treadmill and boil a kettle for steam, etc) was an egg-shaped thingy. Which was actually pretty damn good. Beginners should probably go for something with variable speed and start at the lowest. Oh, and if you're worried about noise, put some music on...

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 20/02/2009 02:44

I was wondering if the Rabbit fans know the secret to the Rabbit? I've met some PO's who didn't, even freaked them out as I've "broken" them at their parties

If you look at the shaft of the Rabbit (any style, even the old Maestrobater etc) it has a slight tilt to it, the tilt will change angle until it is almost 90 degrees to the handle. Move it gently in the direction it already tilts in. It's safe as long as you follow the natural direction, it is designed to do that.

As I said I've always been scared of the Rabbit but I'm told it's a whole new world of pleasure!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2009 08:39

its the ears as far as i am concerned with the rabbit

savemyblushessochangedmyname · 20/02/2009 17:29

wow, thank you all. think its the size of them that scares me so much. Im hardly a virgin and dh and other boyfriends have always been "generously proportioned" but the idea of a 12incher scares the bejesus out of me!

dont like the idea of fiddling with myself iykwim, i can never fully relax. and i have never really had problems climaxing during sex.

just thought i might give something else a try!

Vibrators aren't about helping climax, although they can be used like that. They're something fun to add in and it's not something you can really appreciate until you've done it.

savemyblushessochangedmyname · 21/02/2009 17:25

well, i did it. went into ann summers and bought a finger rabbit. not too scary. wish me luck

fab savemyblushessochangedmyname - well done for buying and enjoying

AnyFucker · 22/02/2009 11:50

let us know how it "goes"

hehehe

Scrumplet · 22/02/2009 13:30

I had a Rabbit five or six years ago, but it was so bloody noisy - had this awful off-putting, bead-crunching and motor sound - that I slung it. If you want it to be quiet and discreet enough to not kill the moment/interrupt your fantasies, don't bother - unless they've been made all quiet lately?

I'll watch this thread with interest - the Rock Chick sounds and looks veeery intriguing.

Happy shopping, savemyblushes!

Scrumplet · 22/02/2009 13:40

Oops - I see you've now bought a Rabbit, albeit it a (hopefully quieter) finger one. Have fun!

In exchange for "self-help" advice from accomplished do-it-yourselfers, got any tips on easy climaxing during sex - something that you said comes (pun intended) easily to you, but doesn't to the majority of women? You lucky lady!

veryembarrassedmummy · 22/02/2009 17:40

I think Rabbits look totally scary- anyone used the things that are clitoris vibrators? They look much more friendly.

sarah76 · 25/02/2009 14:09

Agree with Scrumplet, my rabbit is ridiculously noisy. Wonder if they are all like that, or is just the ones with the 'thrusting' action? Sounds like I'm on a car factory floor.

savemyblushessochangedmyname · 26/02/2009 21:51

well, I am happy to report that my new pet is settling in very well. not too noisy and quite nice (once I got over the cringe factor)

scrumplet, I really don't know why I find it easier to climax during sex. no tips Im afraid, just lucky. sorry.

I just find it easier to relax with dh than when Im by myself.
