I don't know your story but i know it can be quiet here on Christmas day.

My dad was abusive to my mum and my stepdad was abusive to me so I think I do somewhat understand your terror.

foxytocin · 25/12/2008 06:44

x-post so off to read.

foxytocin · 25/12/2008 06:48

good God, that is horrible. you have surely done the right thing. he can't crucify you. by bringing the police in there is now a history. and bullies step back and take stock when you fight back. just don't back down now. log everything

reindeercantdancethetango · 25/12/2008 06:49

well done for being so brave. {{hugs}}

Will try and pop on later. Hope you can have as good a day as you can under the circumstances.

compo · 25/12/2008 06:51

oh Stitch

foxytocin · 25/12/2008 06:55

the other thing I is don't keep quiet about it. Abusers thrive on the silence of their victims. when you fight back, make sure you do it as loudly, metaphorically speaking, so that they know that others are watching the goings on. Getting the police involved counts as 'loudly'. They don't want the attention so they will rein in their behaviour.

It sounds like applying for a divorce is the way forward. He is deep issues with control and you are not in a position to change that for him anytime soon.

stitch · 25/12/2008 06:57

notevenamousie · 25/12/2008 07:06

Well done you. I hope you have a good day - the first day of the rest of your life with your children.

pooka · 25/12/2008 07:15

Stitch - didn't read the previous thread until you linked it.

You've done exactly the right thing.

Easy to say, but try to put him out of your mind so you can enjoy the day with the children. He doesn't deserve your thoughts.

Hope you manage to have a good day, and that this makes a start towards a better 2009.

Piffle · 25/12/2008 07:18

Flihgtattendant · 25/12/2008 07:24

That's cos you're processing it all. Don't worry, you'll find some peace later on, it'll untangle itself.

i think yopu have done exactly the right thing, dear xx

Flihgtattendant · 25/12/2008 07:27

Have the police sent someone round from the DV unit? Someone who can talk to you and help you feel safe that he can't 'crucify' you?

It's really important you get proper protection now. Do you want him back in the house? I don't think you have to have him back iyswim.

Earlybird · 25/12/2008 07:32

So sorry that he has treated you this way, and that it has come to this. But, well done for finding the strength and bravery to take a stand. It's a hugely important first step toward a new life.

TipsyFairydifferentID · 25/12/2008 07:37

Stitch- there is no longer any need to be terrified, deep down you know that, don't you. Well done for making this move, it's going to be a tough couple of days, but you have ensured both your safety and that of your dc as well.
Christmas Day is about welcoming change as well as celebrating- therefore I wish you and you dc a very special and peaceful Christmas, with everything to look forward to in 2009.
xx

kd73 · 25/12/2008 07:49

Well done and love to you and your dc, may I wish you strength with peace of mind this Christmas with 2009 bringing you a change in fortune with new opportunities.

Good luck with your new life.

littleducks · 25/12/2008 08:14

ChrismumMiaow · 25/12/2008 08:17

stitch - I know there won't be many people round today, so I just wanted to say what he did was awful beyond describing, and that you have surely done the right thing.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 25/12/2008 08:24

oh stitch - you poor thing.

I will be around for most of the day especially after about 4pm.

Hope you and the DC have the Christmas you deserve
