My husband said he’s sick of giving me hugs

Hi it’s just want my title said. I wanted a hug earlier and he started shouting at me saying it’s annoying, he’s sick of giving me hugs every day and to grow up. I don’t get any affection from him and he doesn’t say he loves me. We only have sex when I’m fertile. He never gives me any compliments or wants to engage in chat/talk about our day. When he’s on shift he doesn’t txt me or anything. No morning or good night texts. Never says he’s looking forward to seeing me when he gets home. He gives the cat more affection than me.

Call the walk in and get an appointment for contraception ( although really his behaviour should be a good enough contraceptive imo). Don't sleep with hime again. Next leave and get your own place or better still ask him to leave. Are you renting or do you have a mortgage? Who is on the rental agreement/ can you start the process to sell the house and split the proceeds? Spend time applying for better paid jobs. It won't be easy in the short term, but when you are independent and in your own home it will be 100% worth it and you can then focus on finding someone who not only likes you, but loves you and wants to hug you just because. Most importantly you won't be bringing a child into this mess of a situation.

Marycontrarygarden · 10/10/2026 13:38

It's a headache to leave him?! Think of the headache you will have if you had a kid with this asshole. Get a grip please ffs.

Italiangreyhound · 10/10/2026 13:40

I'm so sorry, he sounds awful. Please re-think having kids with him.

Cleo65 · 10/10/2026 13:43

This is completely the wrong situation to be considering bringing a child into - you surely realise that?

pinkyredrose · 10/10/2026 13:49

CeramicRoses · 10/10/2026 12:25

Don’t have a child with this man. Considering how mean and contemptuous he is to you, I’m not sure why he’s wanting to have sex with you when you’re fertile. He can’t treat you with respect but wants children with you? I’d leave, nothing about him or this situation sounds healthy.

Maybe he thinks he'll trap her with a baby?

SquidgyPudge · 10/10/2026 13:54

Why would you want a child with a man like this? What happens if you do have a child, and they want a hug from Daddy, and he says no. Your heart will break. Please leave him.

Withxtime · 10/10/2026 15:02

First of all he`s an arse.
Op are you a clingy person at all, im just asking as my ex was and always needed hugs and kiss needed complements, tbvvh it was fucking draining dumped his arse, cling film was less clingy.
Im not saying this is you at all.

I would not be wanting a child with this man if i was you.

MyHeartyTealBear · 10/10/2026 15:06

Here have my first ever LTB xx

MyFairLady27 · 10/10/2026 15:10

Hate being touched most of the time so luckily have a very understanding dh. When I feel like one I will go get one, not an issue. Wouldn't expect him to message on work shift as he could get fired for using phone anyhow. Don't feel the need for it. We love each other and know it. However 42 is fine we had our twins np there our youngest ones

I’ll have to leave him. It’s just all the headache to do it. I don’t have any money. I’m on relatively low wages to have my own home.

I don’t know where to begin. I’m 42 starting over.

While you’re waiting to leave him, don’t get pregnant.

LowlandLucky · 10/10/2026 15:35

Jeeze of don;t have a baby with him, can you imagine if he refuses to hug the child? Get the paperwork in order and be gone before Christmas. Do not have Sex with him again.

SpryCat · 10/10/2026 15:44

Leaving a husband who doesn’t care for you one iota might be consider Ed a headache to you but it’s staying is torture. It’s better to be single than despised
@Moonandstarsandsun and once your free you can regain your self esteem

honestly stuff like this never ceases to amaze me!

Nothing wrong with starting over at 42. I’m doing it at 44

omghereistrouble · 10/10/2026 16:08

only having sex when fertile? what on earth century is he from? kick his sorry bum out the door stick with the cat he is a better companion

LilyBunch25 · 10/10/2026 16:38

And you're trying to have children with him??!

ToadRage · 10/10/2026 16:44

I'm shocked. Nobody should be sick of hugs. Do not have sex with this man especially not when you're fertile. Having a child with this man is a very bad idea. Children need love more than most and if he can't be the least bit affectionate to his wife I can't see him being able to be a good father. Get out of this relationship now before you bring anyone else this toxic environment. You deserve better.

maxslice · 10/10/2026 19:54

Do you think he would show any affection to your child? Almost certainly not. Why are you staying with someone like this? Kick his arse out! Find someone who loves and appreciates you.

With a man who dislikes you and who you know you should leave?

Moonandstarsandsun · 10/10/2026 21:27

I do know I need to leave. When I say headache to leave, i know having a child would
be worse. We own our home. I can move back in with my parents whilst waiting for the house to sell. Or he could. I don’t necessarily want a child he does. He only seems interested in me when im ovulating. Im going.

Rosepinks · 10/10/2026 21:37

Oh OP, dear god do not have a child with him.
He is not kind.

Start getting organised and tell your parents.
No more sex with him.

He's a bit of a prick.
Don't inflict him on a child.

Wildgoat · 10/10/2026 21:44

To be honest if my husband repeatedly asked for hugs I’d get annoyed, but then i have a happy marriage and we tell each other we love each other,

do you do it for reassurance?

maxslice · 10/10/2026 21:48

pinkyredrose · 10/10/2026 13:49

Maybe he thinks he'll trap her with a baby?

He probably wants a son and heir.

Gobbledegoo · 10/10/2026 23:12

He will be more abusive when you are pregnant. He only wants a child to make you dependent on him so he can control your every move.
