Partner and I have been together for 2 years.
‘He went to his mothers 10 days ago as he has a bad back again. He had an MRI which was fine and bloodwork done. He went from being bedridden and walking with a walking stick one day to completing a 7k walk the next day.
‘I’ve notices he is not really responding to texts so ive just gently been checking in bit have not inundqted him with messages as I know he would hate that
I sent him the following text yesterday as he didn’t answer my last text 2 days ago
Hi I have been worried as l've not heard from you. I hope you are doing ok, get in touch when you're ready 😘
His reply was

I think he’s checked out of the relationship.

Bringflowersofthefairest · 23/05/2026 12:13

He’s not at his Mothers and he’s a fraud.

Leana44 · 23/05/2026 12:17

I think he has as well

Hopefully you don’t live together so will be easier to disentangle. He obviously doesn’t care about how you have been worried about him.

tiramisugelato · 23/05/2026 12:19

He isn’t your partner.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 23/05/2026 12:21

In the words of nsync…. Bye bye bye .

sorry he’s being a dick but sounds like a lucky escape and he’s being rude so maybe you should ditch him

arethereanyleftatall · 23/05/2026 12:21

Who knows. But op, who cares? You very clearly wouldn’t want to be in a relationship with someone like this. I’m not even sure why you would have sent that kind message rather than ‘I no longer want to be in a relationship with you.’
stop thinking about whether he likes you or not, and start realising there’s absolutely no way you should like him.

LBFseBrom · 23/05/2026 12:23

I think the end is in sight I'm afraid. I presume you don't live with him.

arethereanyleftatall · 23/05/2026 12:23

He will actually be doing you a massive favour if he is the one to end it, as you don’t seem to realise that you should already have.

TwoStar · 23/05/2026 12:24

That's the beginning of a 'Dear John...' text

Sorry but he's doing a slow fade out.

ChaToilLeam · 23/05/2026 12:24

Sounds like he is taking the piss

Gemlmc · 23/05/2026 12:25

If you dont like the energy he is giving, then I wouldnt even wish to wait for an explanation.
Sometimes it hurts but since he has been gone 10 days already then you are already on your way to getting over it.
Wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

SparklyGlitterballs · 23/05/2026 12:29

Why does he go to his mums? Is he incapable of resting a bad back at home (assume you're living together)? I'd be incredibly suspicious of someone who is bedridden one day and doing a 7k walk the next day.

If he's not communicating with you, not even a very brief text, then I agree he's checked out. He's not considering you at all OP. If you're meeting/talking tomorrow, then my only contribution would be to give him his marching orders.

Edited to say: actually I wouldn't wait until tomorrow. Bag up anything of his at yours and text him when he can collect it.

whatwouldlilacerullodo · 23/05/2026 12:29

Whatever the relationship, looks like it's over.

Leana44 · 23/05/2026 12:34

We don’t live together

Tablesandchairs23 · 23/05/2026 12:59

He's checked out. Luckily you don't live with him. Block him and move on.

summitfever · 23/05/2026 13:03

Op hes dumped you without saying so, hoping you’d get the hint. I wouldn’t even bother having a convo as his intention from it is to confirm he’s dumped you. He’s pathetic. Just move on now, no need to block him as you won’t hear from him again

TFImBackIn · 23/05/2026 13:52

Bad back my arse! I'd dump him before he could dump you.

crazeekat · 23/05/2026 13:57

He’s about to ghost u - ghost him first he’s not worth it.

MissMoneyFairy · 23/05/2026 14:01

Leana44 · 23/05/2026 12:34

We don’t live together

Good, just ignore him now, nothing to discuss, he's not at his mummy's

outerspacepotato · 23/05/2026 14:07

He went from being bedridden and walking with a walking stick one day to completing a 7k walk the next day.

It's a miracle!

No it's not, he was bullshitting you. Bedrest is not recommended. Heck, patients on ECMO are helped up to walk because the complications of bedrest can be severe. His MRI was clear.

He's split up with you without bothering to tell you.

Frugalgal · 24/05/2026 16:36

Leana44 · 23/05/2026 12:34

We don’t live together

Good because he's checked out of the relationship.

DaisyChain505 · 24/05/2026 16:40

Yeah he’s not longer in this relationship he just hasn’t had the guys to tell you. He’s a coward and you deserve more.

SpunkyOchreSnake · 24/05/2026 17:00

What’s going on is you need to dump him!

Hatty65 · 24/05/2026 17:02

Just text him back, 'Don't bother'.

He's not your partner. He's either with another woman, or he's rude and/or about to dump you.

You can do better.
