Meaningful male gift ideas?

My boyfriend of 2 years has recently bought me a few pieces of beautiful jewellery. I wear them daily and remind me of him through the day.

I'd like to get him something that could prompt similar smiles.

He doesn't wear jewellery and wouldn't if I bought it for him. He's got 2 watches he loves. Any ideas on something he could put on every day which a glimpse of it would remind him of me?

Aftershave was the closest I could think of, but he wouldn't notice a smell throughout the day.

An engraved box to keep his watches in?

An engraved box to keep his watches in?

He'd never use it!

A watch strap?

I'd have the same problem choosing something for my husband. He doesn't use half of what i buy him anyway!

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 18/02/2026 22:31

My husband loved his expensive leather cross body strap bag. He uses it almost daily going to and from work. Maybe something like that?

Pinkissmart · 18/02/2026 22:37

People who love two watches will definitely love a third

bettyboo9 · 18/02/2026 22:39

Sunglasses

Oddities1 · 18/02/2026 22:47

A really good wallet. Something similar to what he already uses - so he'll definitely make use of it - but better quality

HatAndScarf33 · 18/02/2026 23:27

My dh is like yours and over the years I’ve tried to give him equivalent meaningful gifts, but I’ve realised that there isn’t really anything and that we just appreciate different things. The closest I’ve got was an engraved keyring. It’s on his car keys and he uses them every day, I suspect he doesn’t moon over it the same way I do the lovely jewellery he’s got for me though!

I once wrote to Father Christmas asking for the dishy italian from the gym in my stocking. Does that count?

UpDownAllAround1 · 19/02/2026 05:42

Ask him

Inthebathagain · 19/02/2026 07:44

Oooh, definitely @AlbieJiggered

Ok. It's not just me then. That's good to hear.

Not to belittle your answers but

He already has 2 other watches, but only loves 1&2.
He no longer carries a wallet-all on his phone.
Definitely wouldn't use a lovely bag.
His sunglasses have to be prescription.
A key ring would be considered fuss.

If I asked him, he'd tell me not to be so stupid.

Maybe I should give up on the idea and just write him a letter telling him how the jewellery makes me feel and that he's impossible to buy an equivalent, so the letter is to remind him he's daily loved. I could even post it.

@Inthebathagain , I'm useless at gift ideas for men, unless I know their taste really well or if they've been specific in what they want.

I'd buy something useful that he would use a lot. Off the wall ideas might be something like a gadget or something for the house - could be cooking equipment or something like a drill. Maybe that's just me. Smile

I've not been up long, and so far I have had the radio alarm and the bedside lamp on while reading in bed, and had an instant coffee made with hot water from a leaky kettle. I'll have a shower and need to de-fuzz. From that I get 4 suggestions - lamp, radio, decent kettle and shaver. All of those would be useful and last longer than aftershave or shower gel.

Other ideas - the perfect gym bag (if he goes),a hobby-related gadget that won't be obsolete within months, a coat, a special single malt (if he drinks).

(Father Christmas didn't bring me anything Xmas Sad)

A fancy atomiser to keep in the car? Creed do some nice ones.

Minor1000 · 19/02/2026 08:57

Something techy or perhaps a magazine subscription?

MiddleAgedDread · 19/02/2026 09:06

coffee machine?
I tend to buy mine little things and then an experience for something he'll enjoy but never book himself.

CapacityBrown · 19/02/2026 14:33

Funko Pop Yourself. You can design a custom one to look like you.

Mancity08 · 19/02/2026 14:37

Just treat him to a lovely restaurant meal or night a way in hotel with you & him and say it’s fir buying you such lovely presents

CraftyNavySeal · 19/02/2026 14:41

Meaningful doesn’t equal expensive.

DP buys me cookies when he sees them because he knows I like them which is more meaningful than an expensive handbag imo. What does he actually like?

ManManManManMan · 19/02/2026 14:41

Swiss Army knife, a decent one - a Victorinox.

CountryGirlInTheCity · 19/02/2026 15:21

Are you sure that getting him something he would see every day would have the same effect as you looking at your jewellery?

I’m just thinking about my DH and I know there’s nothing I could get him now that a) he’s likely to want to wear every day and b) that will mean he thinks about me every time he sees it. So for example, the watch he wears every day was in fact a present from me a few years ago, but I’m under no illusions that every time he glances at the time he’s thinking ‘Ah CountryGirl bought me this watch, I love her so much’! He does love me very much and he shows it in lots of ways but his watch is not a prompt for that.

I’m really not wishing to rain on your parade, I just wonder if a nice card in which you’ve written a meaningful message expressing how you feel and maybe a one-off experience that he would absolutely love to do might say the same thing to him but in a way he appreciates even more……

I bought DH a very fancy mechanical pencil from a proper stationary shop.
No recollection of the brand now, it was years ago. He loves it, uses it regularly, and it is apparently the best gift I have ever given him.

Was going to say this. Nice gift for anyone who is a bit practical. I also think that fancy knives, a good coffee machine or a lovely print for the wall are all good gifts. Also a really good holdall.

TalulahJP · 19/02/2026 16:33

does he like tattoos? you could pay for one he likes. not with your name or anything lol. 😜

I've been given pen sets as gifts a few times. They were either nice but fountain pen and ballpoint when I'd have been delighted with a rollerball and pencil, or they were just not the right weight and feel.

An excellent suggestion IMO.

Brilliant. I've given and received one.
