After a TIA

Hi is it normal for someone to change mentally after a TIA . Hubby had one about 3 years ago and lately he’s getting so moody and blows up like a bottle of pop at the slightest thing . It’s like he’s completely paranoid and thinks everyone is having a go at him . Is this synonymous with a TIA ?
im struggling to understand what’s going on . He says it’s me of course and not him . It’s the element of surprise that shocks me one minute he’s fine the next BANG he’s moody . I can’t cope with it much longer

You can have TIAs in your sleep.

Some people lump Tia and stroke together, but they are very different things. If the brain is injured it’s a stroke. If it isn’t it’s a Tia.

A Tia is a temporary blockage of blood to the brain. They cause sudden stroke like symptoms that go away very quickly. There is no permanent damage to the brain and they cannot be detected on scans because the blockage did not last long enough to damage the brain. People make a full recovery.

A stroke is very different as the blockage lasts long enough to cause damage to the brain. The symptoms don’t go away and can be debilitating. A stroke absolutely can change a persons character due to brain injury.

Lots of women report their husbands being abusive after a Tia. The same pattern of abuse appears after men get a diagnosis of cancer or suffer a heart attack. It is not the health scare that causes the abuse but the man’s inability to regulate himself + cultural permission to dump the rage onto a woman.

There is no neurological condition that causes targeted abuse of one particular person.

TIAs can be seen on scans after the event.
My MIL was told she had had one at some point in the past as it was seen on a scan

My hubby had no scars on his brain they diagnosed a tia from what happened to him .

Then he had an event that passed quickly with no brain damage or lasting neurological effects. He would have felt horrible and really scared but that’s it. I know it would be easier to believe that his Tia is the cause of his abuse towards you but it is not. The fact other women are telling you their husbands behaved the same way after a Tia only confirms how many women are conditioned to make excuses for abusive behaviour.
