What do you all think of a man who refuses to buy his partner womens things

‘Women’s things’?! Vibrator?! One of those clit suck things?! Selfish!

Tampons and pads - DH gets mine - yours is weird! My dad used to get mine when I was a teenager - he used to get my mum’s so couldn’t have cared less and he was born in the 1950s.

My friend asked her husband to get her tampons and he rang her and asked if she wanted - lemon, lime, orange or blackcurrant! Took her a while to work out he was saying the colours of regular, super etc. Be hasn’t lived that down - apparently he thought they had a scent 😂😂

Secondstart1001 · 23/09/2025 20:18

If your baby is a girl I would be worried about her dad having such a backward approach to a normal occurrence in a females life. Even if you have a son, you need to bring him up to be comfortable with menstruation.

And here's me thinking they're flavoured 😋

EndlessHolidayWashing · 23/09/2025 20:23

He's completely unreasonable OP. After DD was born, my DH was popping out to buy me period pants, nursing pads and laxatives (could not go for about a week after birth!)- did not once refuse, query or complain.

I'm actually really enraged on your behalf. Why did he say he won't buy them? Embarrassed? Too manly to be seen buying them?

Horseridermum · 23/09/2025 18:23

@sanityisamyth forget the title thats not the point and not what i asked him to get i was just thinking of a catchy title as i needed quick advice omg
also didnt want him to see this post as he knows i come on here
everyone going on at me over the title of post, people need to think further about peoples reasons and not be too quick to judge

Why do you not want him to know you've posted on here?

The thing with the sanitary towels is unreasonable, but I think you already know that x

afianceeatlast · 23/09/2025 20:27

Very childish and pathetic!

shhblackbag · 23/09/2025 20:28

Horseridermum · 23/09/2025 20:06

@shhblackbag 🙄 are we still focusing on the thread title

Roll your eyes all you want. It's weird even if you were in a hurry. But obviously you have a baby with a tedious manchild.

Imagine being okay with impregnating a woman but being unable to buy pads. It's ridiculous and unattractive. How do you take him seriously?

Loloj · 23/09/2025 20:29

I’d think the man was pretty pathetic. Is he worried that the shop assistant will think he is taking them home and sticking them up his bum?

My husband picks tampons up for me without batting an eyelid and I’ve had previous partners do the same.

kittensinthekitchen · 23/09/2025 20:30

You said women's things, my mind went to strap ons..... 👀

legofpyjama · 23/09/2025 20:33

My Dad would buy us tampons when we were teens in the 80s. Dh does buy stuff like that and would add, without being asked, my favourite chocolate bars too. Neither of my sons would bat an eyelid at buying them either.

Your Dh is an immature arsehole. You cannot control your bleeding, if you need period products he should have fucking got you some.

Horseridermum · 23/09/2025 20:48

@LoftyRobin i didn’t call them womans things to him omg its just a silly thread title

i asked my partner as i was all out and neeeded them, he was already going out so inasked him to stop by the shop for me as it was evening time & i was busy settling baby. Anyway he refused,

If he refuses to do that whilst your are settling your baby - I'd consider him an asshole.

GimmieABreakOr3 · 23/09/2025 20:51

What was his reason for refusing OP?

How old are you both? Has he been in a relationship before?

it sounds like he’s really immature tbh. Whenever it’s my time of the month, my husband will ask me if I need anything. He will go out for me and buy sanitary pads if I need it.

Horseridermum · 23/09/2025 20:57

Both 40s
@GimmieABreakOr3
i usually never ask for help but busy past few weeks and forgot to buy them
he said men don’t buy them

Bless you. He needs to grow a pair and buy you some if you need it! X

Oh FFS, he’s a complete cunt.

My dad never had even the slightest problem getting tampons and sanitary towels for my mum, sister and me, and he was born in the 1940s. My brother’s the same; he’d just ask which brand and get on with it.

I’ve never dated any man who was scared to pick up a box of Lil-lets and if anyone was, I’d have dumped him immediately.

You've explained yourself plenty of times
The expression..till you're blue in the face comes to mind.
Your husband is a prick with an outdated attitude.

Cuwins · 23/09/2025 21:18

My partner has no problem buying them. He does ask me to send him a photo of the right ones as when faced with shelves of them he gets a bit overwhelmed finding the right thing but to be honest that could apply to anything I ask him to buy!

PrincessSakura · 23/09/2025 21:37

Your husband is being ridiculous and very immature.
My husband wouldn’t even think twice about it, even when we were teenagers he was always happy to get whatever I needed and he’d always buy a treat or something just for me to cheer me up as he knew how miserable periods can be as his mum suffered badly with them.

MYOB12 · 23/09/2025 22:51

Both my ExH and DP would have no problems buying sanitary stuff for me. My Stepson has been out to buy sanitary towels for his sisters before now! Your DP is a knob.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 23/09/2025 22:52

Fuckwit

StarlightLady · 24/09/2025 07:26

I think men like this are dinosaurs from another age. But I’m also not impressed by the use of the term “women’s things”. Why not say sanitary towels in the first place?
