Parents relationship.

OP posts:
Missymarple · 20/08/2025 20:28

My parents would have been married for 10 years at most. DH and I have been together 25 years, married for 20. The in-laws were married for 60 ish years so a fair way for us to go yet.

GiddyDog · 20/08/2025 20:52

Been with DH 18 years.
My mum was only 18 when I was born and 'dad' had done a runner before the second blue line appeared.
Stepdad was with my mum about 5 years but has remained part of my life since they split which was a very long time ago now.
In laws are married 53 years and counting.

Interesting question.
Parents eventually divorced after 21 years of messy marriage.
I’ve been married 24 years. My little sisters been married 30 years.

tinyspiny · 20/08/2025 21:09

My husband and I have been married for 36 yrs , together for 40 yrs , my dad died 2 days before my parents 25 th wedding anniversary , he was 51 , they’d been together for 27 yrs .

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 20/08/2025 21:12

My parents were married 61 years at the time my dad passed away. 31 years for me and DH - I doubt if we’ll be around in another 30, although I guess it’s possible.

MyElatedUmberFinch · 20/08/2025 21:12

Parents were together for 25 years in total, I’ve been with my H for just over 30 years so far.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/08/2025 21:21

My parents divorced after about 24 years. I’ve managed a 3 year relationship. Never married. Happily single for well over a decade.

Cassertta · 20/08/2025 21:35

Parents 29 years before one died. Us 48 years.

GoodCharl · 20/08/2025 22:53

My parents would be in their mid 80s now if they were still alive. They were married around 45 years before they died. If divorce wasnt frowned upon and my mum hadnt of had 7 kids and been a SAHM, i think they would have split up before that. They didnt get on a lot of the time. I felt they were stuck. Very sad for both of them tbh

my relationship 27 years. Thank fuck for divorce 😆 never again unless hes filthy rich 🤑

remember1 · 20/08/2025 22:55

My mum and dad were 13 years before divorce and his death a few years later, my mum and stepdad are now 31 years married. Me and DH are 13 years and I am 5 years older than my dad was when he died.

KawasakiBabe · 20/08/2025 22:59

My parents got married when they were 17 & 18, 64 years this year. I was 37 when I got married, so nope, I won’t beat that, especially as they’re still going strong.

DramaAlpaca · 20/08/2025 23:50

I've been married for 35 years. My parents have been married for almost 66 years. DH and I have a way to go yet.

Rainbow1612 · 20/08/2025 23:52

My parents have been married for 53 years so far. I've been with my DH for 13 years. I can only hope we do as well as my parents.

CinnamonBuns67 · 20/08/2025 23:54

Enko · 20/08/2025 23:56

parents Married 12 together 14

SheSpeaks · 20/08/2025 23:56

I’m not sure about my parents. Maybe 20 years maybe a bit more. Couldn’t tell you when they met or married or when they broke up either exactly, I don’t know which affair you would count as the one to break them up or is it official date of moving to live apart or the court cases or the actual divorce date which is many years later? Can’t ask them as they are dead.

My longest relationship is my current one at 24 years. No plans to marry or have a messy divorce.

OneTitWonder · 21/08/2025 00:01

My parents had been married 56 years when my father died. My DH's parents had been married 62 years when his father died.

DH and I only got married when we were 37 and 39 so we're both going to live to 100 or more to compete with our parents😆

Deadringer · 21/08/2025 00:02

My parents were married for about 25 years before my dad died. We have been married for 38 years.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 21/08/2025 00:05

Parents 49 years, before DM died, Dad died the year after.
Edit. Married 49.
Together 51 years.

Mathsbabe · 21/08/2025 09:06

My parents maybe 3 or 4 years, in-laws 39 years, us 45 years so far

Blushingm · 21/08/2025 09:13

parents were together about 15 years on and off. I was with ex for 18 years. My dad has been with his current partner for about 25 years

Cinaferna · 21/08/2025 09:20

Parents. They celebrated their Golden Wedding and more, then my dad died. DH and I have been together 31 years.

SGBK4862 · 21/08/2025 09:21

My parents were married after a few months of knowing each other and had their 62nd anniversary before my mother died. I've been married 32 years, together 36, and we would both have to be into our 90s to beat their record.

MrsBucketHat · 21/08/2025 10:48

Parents - together since 1976. Me and DH have been together since 2013.

2brains · 21/08/2025 10:51

My parents were married for only 18 months

I have been married 38 years
