Men who seem gay but aren’t

Maybe it’s because I am in my mid fifties and don’t get out much so am not familiar with “yoof” these days but I recently met a friend’s daughter and son in law for the first time and it has left me pondering.

They have been together for a few years, have a child and want another.
He was a really friendly chap, very chatty and kind. I liked him very much.

I came away a bit unsettled though because I very much got the vibe of a gay man.

Talking to him was like gossiping with a girlfriend which is not something I have ever felt talking to a straight man.

Of course I appreciate that there are varying degrees of “blokeness” in fact both my ex husbands got on well with women (the last one rather TOO well!) and weren’t macho types and I have had several gay male friends over the years and I am aware that there isn’t a single identity or personality type but this young man’s demeanour, conversational style and content, even appearance screamed gay to me.

Not my business as not my family but I was left with a niggling worry that this will all go horribly wrong if this chap isn’t being honest with himself or my friend’s daughter.

Anyway, my question here is do lots of young men present like this now?

Patrick isn’t gay???
Blimey. My gaydar is clearly broken then

I know! He is so effeminate, I love him. Whenever I saw him touching the models and outfits I thought “at least he’s gay so this isn’t inappropriate”

I was amazed to learn that Joe Lycett has a female partner.

What!?

Yes I had a coworker that always gave me gay vibes. The women he dated were always at least 15-20 years younger than him, but he never dated them for long. He's been single for decades now. Maybe its just his demeanor that puts off women. Or he could be like me - very picky hence why I'm also long term single. 😁

Grim.

I will add to this list of stars I think are gay / bisexual but can’t come out due to public perception and the roles they play so have beards / stay single

John Travolta
Will Smith
George Clonney ( always gets my gaydar going )
Leonardo Di Caprico

When I think about it there are no real A list Hollywood stars that are openly gay apart from Jodie Foster

That’s so true about hollywood actors.

I’ve always thought that in such an industry like acting it’s seems unreal that there are no openly A list gay stars by A list I mean one who can open a film on their name alone

Jodie Foster came out as gay years ago and is married with children
but even before that as far as I can remember she never played the love interest / wife or girlfriend in any of her films despite being the Leading actress in many of her films and is Hollywood royalty as such and a double Oscar winning actress

I guess what I mean is you never saw her with a man any of her films in a sexual way

although this could be down to her being a very powerful actress in her own right so probably doesn’t have to put up with the shit a lot of actress have to when building a career so it wasn’t a bad career move for her to announce she is gay in the same way it would be for a male A list heart throb actor

I would imagine Hollywood studios won’t take a chance on male A list star who is openly gay playing the part of a heterosexual leading man in a blockbuster film

Sounds just like Leonardo De Caprico
as soon as his girlfriends hit 25 they are gone 😂

It sounds like, as you think age equals outdated ideas, that you might be holding on to outdated views of what middle aged women are like?

It is very cute to see your attempt at deflection, however my post was based entirely on your OP.

Doesn't look gay to me, just seems like a gentleman.
