My husband always wanted a lazy Susan for the garden table. What silly thing has your partner always earned after?

That's it!

I want a library ladder with wheels.

A Lazy Susan is a very practical and useful item. Someone recently bought us one for our house in Spain, and I can't wait to use it in the garden this summer. ☀️🌴🌿

Until you find that your plates don’t fit properly on the table with the lazy Susan on there too!

DH wants a Wurlitzer jukebox.
I would like a stuffed badger.

Me too.
I already have a flagpole, a Dr. Who pinball machine, a corridor painted to look like a spaceship airlock...
DH always wanted an American sports car - he bought one 28 years back. It goes out about once a fortnight so long as the weather's good. At least it's so old there is no tax and the insurance is peanuts. However it does 14 miles to the gallon... 🙁

Jasmin71 · 13/05/2025 15:41

Mine wants a Theramin. He's not having one, it would freak my cat out.

We had a Rockola for several years - the tone was fantastic. Unfortunately it got a mechanical problem and most mechanical things are difficult and expensive to fix so we sold it for spares. I still have all the 45s; would love another one.

I have a stuffed badger.

No globe, but I did have a boat shaped bar for a good few years 😂

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 13/05/2025 15:53

At the moment - it is a fountain pen. He keeps wittering on about being able to write nice letters with a proper pen like in the olden days. I think he's losing it.

SirChenjins · 13/05/2025 15:53

A soda stream. At aged 62, decades after they first came onto the market, he finally bought himself one a couple of months ago. He’s more delighted with it than a grown man probably ought to be.

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 13/05/2025 15:54

A grand father clock. Not sure why as no-one would use it, the chimes would piss him off and he'd never Polish it

I want a library!

Also on my list of 'things I covet but which will never happen unless I win the lottery' is a vintage VW camper van. Strangely, adult dd recently confessed to the same hankering.
Confused

The other thing I want is a proper classic workhorse Land Rover. In blue.

Mine talked for years about getting an exercise bike. I made noncommittal noises because I KNEW it wouldn’t get used.
Bought last November and used maybe 10 times. Now it’s the place where we hang dog leads and stuff to take to the bins.

I, on the other hand, want a green glass library lamp. 30 years and counting…

Edited

Get the lamp ! My db bought me one a few yrs ago , I love it .

I also put up 'bookcase' wallpaper and as said up thread I want a drinks globe and a ox blood chesterfield arm chair .

When I told my friend I had a lazy Susan her husband said about his wife with the same name "I've got one too!". She's not lazy and he had to do a lot of apologising and crawling.

My friend Susan says this is a paradox!

Why is it silly?

I don't know, just out of all the things you could want for a house, this seems really odd

OP posts:
Hafta · 14/05/2025 21:15

Those globe drinks cabinets are so horrifically now. I couldn't possibly have one.

So many things on this thread I want to reply to! But this one's caught my eye... you totally can get a vintage VW camper. We have had our 1984 T25 pop top since February and it's GORGEOUS, and you might be surprised how little they go for.

My husband doesn't want silly stuff particularly, but he gets an idea in his head then builds it. The van is his latest thing, he's just put a solar panel on the roof and wired in a USB charger and put some very pretty lights into it too 🩷

Clevs · 14/05/2025 21:37

We’ve got a globe drinks cabinet! £20 off Facebook Marketplace!

ScottBakula · 15/05/2025 10:40

It make take a bit of practice and a few broken plate casualties but look what your DH could achieve @Hafta ! 😀

I'd love to buy a vintage camper and could afford to do so, but we haven't got anywhere to keep it.

A catamaran 🤔

My dad decided he wanted one in the late 80s, so he got a kit, and built a 26 foot one in the front drive which could just sleep all 5 of us, if not comfortably. The house and garage were full of fibre glass and wood for a year. My mum did not love it, although she did quite like sailing on it when it was done. It was quite fun, he made us all do sailing certificates so we'd be safe if he happened to pass out on board, which luckily never happened. I felt like something out of Swallow and Amazons.

ScottBakula · 15/05/2025 21:23

A tad eccentric, but we learned to live with it.....and great fun. Mum had to be the practical one, but she chose him!

A globe drinks cabinet like this...

https://justglobes.co.uk/globe-bars.html?srsltid=AfmBOormSVG9QhqWddT2KLf_qETQ_s4nvVJoGN8ImBN0grfbBelRAuem

We live on a 3 bed semi, not Downton Abbey.

I'd love one of those. We don't live in a stately home either:)

Dh wants another dog, - we have loads of dogs already, all bloody huge like polar bears- and a shark hoover - he doesn't hoover, ever.
