Bumble matches I didn't swipe?

Verytiredofwaiting · 23/03/2025 20:48

Is anyone else getting matches on Bumble with people they didn't swipe right on? I've had 2 now I matched that I didn't remember swiping on but wasn't sure, now I've had one today I know 100% I would not have swiped right on. How is this happening?

I'm not having any luck on Bumble at all but am persevering because I don't want to use Hinge (everyone at work is on there) or Tinder (several relatives are on there). Is this a glitch or is Bumble trying to force matches because people are leaving it, or what?

No profile = it’s up to you to create a conversation out of nothing. Why bother? If they can’t be bothered to write a few sentences re hobbies, stuff they’re into, what they’re looking for, why should I? It doesn’t ever strike me as someone seriously looking.

Bittenonce · 25/03/2025 06:26

There are also plenty of women who will combine an unsmiling mirror selfie with ‘You’ll have to find out’ as their bio. Guess they must still get matches?
And in fairness - on Bumble anyway - it’s easy to press ‘send’ too soon and then be unable to edit or send anything else until you’ve had a reply, it might explain at least some of the monosyllabic initial messages.

Verytiredofwaiting · 25/03/2025 07:38

Ok it's not just me - I'd seriously started questioning how all of these blank profile toilet selfie people were getting on since I'm getting nowhere!

It's definitely not just you! Easy to feel deflated when you hear some people saying how many matches, how many dates they're getting every week. But I think I'll just keep being fussy - my dating experience might be limited but I've got enough life experience to know where not to invest

Hi babe or Hi sexy for added bonus cringe.

On principle I swiped left on any bathroom pics. Gym mirror pics too.

Does it really take that much effort to Google chat up lines and at least try.

I had oi oi once - just what a woman needs to hear 🤣

BansheeOfTheSouth · 25/03/2025 20:09

@TwistedWonder Never had that one.

The first time I received hru wuut, I replied and aplogised that I only spoke English. Genuinely thought it was a foreign language.

Full sentences are maybe not essential but actual words are 😂

Think you should blame @Verytiredofwaiting for not training her clients properly! Either that or thank her for making the filtering so much easier 😂

Fastingandhungry · 26/03/2025 11:44

I feel like @Bittenonce and @Verytiredofwaiting should go on a date 😁

Oh I’m so glad it’s not only me that thought that 🤣.

Come on @Verytiredofwaiting and @Bittenonce where do you both live? Please don’t say Edinburgh and Exeter 😫.

BarbaricYawp · 26/03/2025 19:08

Bittenonce · 24/03/2025 18:51

Yup, ‘Discover’ is just as much Rowntrees Randoms as the rest.
And wouldn’t it be nice to have a filter so that anyone interested in roast dinners, intimacy without commitment, and neurodiversity (ie no imagination, just want a fuck, serious MH issues) is just hidden forever?

Wtf's wrong with roast dinners? Please tell me they're not a euphemism for something nasty.

Then again, I'm autistic, so maybe I shouldn't even try to imagine.

Bourbonbonbon · 26/03/2025 19:09

You can pay more and go incognito while you block everyone you know?

Bourbonbonbon · 26/03/2025 19:11

On bing bumble, if you are scrolling down through your likes it's almost impossible not to accidentally hit someone which is then a match. That's probably what's happened. Someone should fix that.

It’s a bit of a joke that about 90% of the men on Hinge say their perfect Sunday is a long walk in the country followed by a pub roast dinner.

Its absolutely generic and boring

But the pp who didn't want to see any further mention of roast dinners is a man, right? So is OLD also full of women demanding to be cooked a roast dinner?! After 20+ years of cooking before finally dumping my lazy DH, I could certainly see the attraction of that... In fact, I think I might make it my weeding out strategy. Looking for a guy who can cook me a roast dinner without complaining, making a pigging mess of the kitchen or hogging all the crackling. Anyone who wants to precede that with a long walk doesn't know how long it takes...

That just stops you seeing the other person's profile, it doesn't stop your profile being shown to them. Unfortunately.

I looked at women’s profiles once. They’re just as bad as the men’s, just as generic, just as sexually explicit, just as boring, just as bad photographically etc etc etc.

FeatherChops · 26/03/2025 20:19

Been happily married for a decade but I’m invested in this potential love story ..

A word of warning however! I went on a date with a bloke from Mumsnet. Turned into a relationship for a few months. He was … god, I need some time to dredge up the files away memory 🤣

That can't possibly be right.

It isn't. The block feature blocks both from being seen by the other. Ask me how I know 😂

And a ridiculous number of women say the same - or at least have Roast Dinner listed as their 'one meal they would choose to eat for the rest of their life'.
Not seen anyone listing 'Margherita Pizza followed by Vanilla Ice Cream' yet though 😆
