This says so much about our different personalities on this thread!

Some angry and defiant, internally screaming a cathartic anthem like Alanis M with the drums, loud electric guitars etc

Some of us get desperately nostalgic and wishing for the loss to return like echoey verses of Nothing compares to u

And some are a kind of quiet sadness, that private hurt that you don't show to the world with such a simple quiet song like Tin Man

So many recommendations for Alanis Morissette but I can’t look that up because I hate the artist so much.

Fix you by Coldplay is my go to because, regardless of what we’re all going through, a doctor’s gone through years of training to put us back together again. So grateful that we have people like this in our lives dedicated to healing our pain.

It came out about a month after my husband suddenly left me totally out the blue. We'd been together since we were 14 and although the answer was obvious, I was so blindsided. I really felt like this song was written for me. I used to belt it out in the car!!!

A few months later, Michael Buble released Its a Beautiful Day, i had found my anger by then and again, the lyrics were perfect.

Even now 12 years on, they're my breakup songs!

Only one I go to that I haven't seen listed. Love how the break up songs reflect the general mood of the relationship.

When I spilt with my first boyfriend I sobbed to Always by Bon Jovi.
Later in life Alanis Oughta know, and Christina FIghter where songs I played and sang along to!(girl power and all that)
I always remember I spilt with a long distance boyfriend and he sent me James Blunts Goodbye my lover cd through the post.
It did make me cry 😢
