My friend and my wife

hello,
was after a bit of advice, am I over thinking things or is this something to worry about.
i know a couple I’ve been friends with for many years..the guy is a bit of a ladies man and when I met my partner he was keen to meet her, anyhow after a few months we all met up and he immediately treated her like a long lost mate. Any did so every time we met up. Fast forward to a few months back. I proposed to my partner last year and invited them to the wedding this year. The couple decided to take us away for a couple of days as a wedding present. We went to a karaoke bar and he asked her to sing with him, which she did his arm round her but her arm not round him. On way back they walked back in front of me and his wide arm in arm. Which I thought was very strange as this was only a couple of weeks before our wedding. Then the day before wedding a large group met up for a drink and he said to my wife to be twice ‘ marry me instead’ my wife to me told me this and laughed it off. We had an entertainer at wedding and he asked my wife to pick someone to help the guy and she picked my friend out of a room of 60. I didn’t see anything at wedding.
while away for a few days after the wedding we were having a few drinks and she just randomly came out with ‘ I don’t fancy him he knows I’m married’ something along them lines. And she mentions him at least once a day in general conversation. we are going away with them on a cruise for a week and I’m scared on what might happen..am I just overthinking this? Thank you x

It’s good that you are on the same page. She’s right you need to be open as things will eat you up inside and possibly be worse in your mind than in reality. If the cruise is paid for and no going back maybe have a word with your friend before and say you don’t want any underhand comments as it makes wife uncomfortable. Relationships are hard and you guys have a long way to go so these things are sent to test us, as long as you stick together you will be fine. Good luck!

Wonder if they're swingers, what with this man's wife talking to your wife about sex and how big you are and whether your wife fancies her husband. If that's the case it might explain things a bit, but would still be absolutely unacceptable to behave this way.

wizzywig · 07/10/2024 14:59

Totally swingers

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 07/10/2024 15:05

You've chosen to be friends with a "ladies man" aka sleaze. You knew what he was, but as long as he was only disrespecting his own marriage and not yours, you were okay with it. Now he's got his creepy hands on "your" wife and all of a sudden his behaviour is unacceptable. 🤔

How does your wife feel about his behaviour. Is it making her feel uneasy? Communication is key in a good marriage. Have an honest conversation with your wife.

Her out of the blue comment could be because she’s uncomfortable with his behaviour but is trying to see it as innocent by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

She mentions him daily. Sounds like she has mentionitis which is never a good thing

Skybluepinky · 07/10/2024 17:23

Cut ties with him.

MushMonster · 07/10/2024 17:26

I hope this is a lesson learnt for the two of you. Talk about these sort of issues, be open.
For what the other guy's partner said to your wife when alone, it sounds like these two are swingers and they fancy the pair of you.
Do you lose money if you change the dates of the cruise? I would look into it.
I do not think I could cope with going on holiday with these two!

WhatIsThisTomFoolery24 · 07/10/2024 17:30

Does your friend have form for trying to "one up" you? Sounds petty & definitely bit weird. I'd be backing away from this friendship.

Hello, here’s a update, so the holiday didn’t start well…in taxi in airport his wife got in back of car and my wife he went went round other side and sat next to my wife. So she was in middle. He then put his seatbelt on and said to my wife where’s your hole I need to put it in.. my wife laughing…we get to hotel I was fuming n my wife knew it I said to her I wasn’t happy and and then I pulled him up outside hotel. I said he was bang out of order with what he said and he just laughed walked off, I waited for him to come back n said again it was out of order he then said I need counselling..I was fuming. On the cruise my wife was getting wound up with the pair of them especially his wife. I was distant and never hardly laughed..I was glad to get back to cabin. This happened most nights..wife would mention a ring or her nails and he was there asking to see but holding her hand..made my skin crawl. I was beginning to feel under the weather and exaggerated it at dinner table. One one both started taking piss out of me. It was then I thought do I cause a scene n risk getting kicked off boat or head back to room..sweet had just been served. I picked up my jacked said I didn’t feel well n went back to cabin. I had both keys..my wife turned up about 45-1 hr later knocking on the door..she told me she went to get some water after the meal n said to his wife I might have to sleep on your balcony as I had both keys she said to my wife come and jump in bed with us you can sleep in the middle..I was bouncing. We ne er seen them next day but at dinner he was telling a funny story and my wife was crying with laughter. She knew I wasn’t comfortable..she said she was only trying to calm the situation down. Went we parted company at the airport we have contacted them since. Funny thing today as still on fb with them..wife posted a few pics of holiday with just us and a few scenic pics plus one of my wife only at dinner table on elegant night out of all the photos he has liked that one. Is he trying to get under my skin or should I be worried he’s going to be trouble…wife doesn’t want me to block them as she thinks it’s childish

Get help. You ignored advice, you’re asking for it now. I don’t even think this is real
