My husband of 26 years (together 34) has had an affair and I've talked about this in threads last week. Now what I need is some really strong songs that I can belt out to lift my spirits. So far I have:
Flowers - Miley Cyrus
What a fool believes - The doobie brothers
(possibly) Good Thing - FYC

Please could I have more.

Listen to me!! You have a future ahead of you. Do your crying. Take your time.

But spoil yourself. Buy new things. Put your makeup on (if you wear it) go for a walk and smile at strangers. Take photos. Laugh and slag him to the ground with your friends and drink your fave drink (if you drink) sing your heart out. Plan a day at the seaside with a friend or your kids. Go enjoy the sea and have some fun. Buy some beautiful flowers for you.

I know your heart will ache on and off. But please do not let him and his willy rob you of your future. You are someone elses dream woman.

So many good suggestions!!
I’ll add:
Martha Wainwright - Bloody Motherfcking Arsehle!

Oh YES! Brilliant, brilliant song. Written about her dad, I think, but the sentiment definitely still fits.

You call me all friendly
Telling me how much you miss me
That's funny, I guess you've heard my songs
Well, I'm too busy for your business
Go find a girl who wants to listen
'Cause if you think I was born yesterday
You have got me wrong

So I cut you off
I don't need your love
'Cause I already cried enough
I've been done
I've been moving on, since we said goodbye
I cut you off
I don't need your love, so you can try all you want
Your time is up, I'll tell you why

You say you're sorry
But it's too late now
So save it, get gone, shut up
'Cause if you think I care about you now
Well, boy, I don't give a fuck

I remember that weekend
When my best friend caught you creeping
You blamed it all on the alcohol
So I made my decision
'Cause you made your bed, sleep in it
Play the victim and switch your position
I'm through, I'm done

So I cut you off
I don't need your love
'Cause I already cried enough
I've been done
I've been moving on, since we said goodbye
I cut you off
I don't need your love, so you can try all you want
Your time is up, I'll tell you why

You say you're sorry
But it's too late now
So save it, get gone, shut up
'Cause if you think I care about you now
Well, boy, I don't give a fuck

I see you tryna get to me
I see you begging on your knees
Boy, I don't give a fuck
So stop tryna get to me
Tchh, get up off your knees
'Cause, boy, I don't give a fu-u-uck

About you
No, I don't give a damn
You keep reminiscing on when you were my man
But I'm over you
Now you're all in the past
You talk all that sweet talk, but I ain't coming back

Cut you off
I don't need your love
So you can try all you want
Your time is up, I'll tell you why
(I'll tell you why)

You say you're sorry
But it's too late now
So save it, get gone, shut up
(Too late now)
'Cause if you think I care about you now
Well, boy, I don't give a fuck
(Boy, I don't give a fuck)

I see you tryna get to me
I see you begging on your knees
Boy, I don't give a fuck
So stop tryna get to me (get to me)
Tchh, get up off your knees
'Cause, boy, I don't give a fuck

Special by Garbage
Rolling in the Deep and Set Fire to the Rain by Adele (I don't really listen to Adele's music but these songs came on a lot on the radio when XH and I split...both were very apt and I would belt them out whilst driving!!)
Ain't my Bitch by Metallica
Fifteen Years by The Levellers (XH was an alcoholic)
Killing in the Name Of (Rage Against The Machine)
Vengeance by New Model Army

It was a hideous break up, he was vile to me (and had also had an affair). Then my lovely Dad died suddenly in the midst of all the shit with XH. XH then turned even nastier. I couldn't break down in front of the kids, so basically, I listened to (and belted out) a lot of Metallica, Rammstein, lots of metal really (and lots of prog), and lots of NMA, Garbage and Genesis!! I grew up listening to a lot of prog rock and metal.

I know it's early days now, but things will feel better in time. Look after yourself yeah? If you guys have already separated, maybe change the furniture around or buy yourself new bedding that is just for you (sounds a bit weird, but I found that really helped me). Wishing you all the best xx
