Is it really attractive? Doing housework?

Is there really a link between how much work around the home you partner does and your levels of attraction to him?

I've heard it for a long time, I did some ironing the other day, top off, I'm in good shape. My partner came in and made comment it's so sexy when you do housework without being asked. I'd rather she commented on my body but I'll take whatever compliments I can get

Is it really a thing. Personally I just think it's encouragement to do more house work.

No. Its just sad that the bare minimum and a contribution to the mental and physical load leads to women having the energy and time to want sex.

Kalaj · 08/01/2024 22:31

Goodness Mumsnet is full of batshit threads tonight.

Loopytiles · 08/01/2024 22:32

best pay less attention to your wife ego massaging you lest you burn your tip top abs.

mrsfollowill · 08/01/2024 22:34

Grin Grin Grin It's a massive turn on obv- try cleaning the bathroom and see how that floats her boat! Bleach the loo and scrub the floor she'll love it!

Onelifeonly · 08/01/2024 22:39

It's not that it is sexy in itself, it is having your partner recognise that chores should be shared and feeling supported and cared for. Makes me feel warmer towards him, and more like getting up close and personal.

Onelifeonly · 08/01/2024 22:40

And you SHOULD be doing more housework. It's your house too!

Tintackedsea · 08/01/2024 22:52

Sames, op. I never bother wearing clothes to do the chores. Mind you, got to watch when splashing the bleach around. Smarts like a bastard.

GetYourHandsOffMyBallsBeast · 08/01/2024 22:58

I think it's more that laziness is desperately unattractive tbf.

Falkenburg · 08/01/2024 23:01

Ironing with your shirt off is ok. Don't iron with your pants down though as a scorched Willy is not a good look.

Allthatglittersisntart · 08/01/2024 23:14

Yes! All men need to know that important fact. Cooking good food also very attractive.

Wednesday6 · 08/01/2024 23:22

It's more the other way around for me when DH not contributing the resentment and stress kills my sexual desire for him

bendypines · 08/01/2024 23:29

How often do you do housework without being asked, OP?

No it's not. It's her home. I've only known her a few weeks. Not my home, not my clothes. I do all my house work. Stop projecting.

Yes, it’s incredibly attractive. It makes women love you more and go weak at the knees. Especially hoovering, dusting, tidying and cleaning the oven.

Your partner is praising you because she wants you to do more housework. She is making you feel good so you will do the thing again. I guess asking you to do things hasn’t worked that well so now she’s trying another approach

Bibbetybobbity · 08/01/2024 23:37

So many posts on MN aren’t real anymore. As if @Dgraveym

CaseBasket · 08/01/2024 23:37

Exactly what @GetYourHandsOffMyBallsBeast and @Wednesday6 have said

No one wants to have sex with someone they mother.

You’ve only known her a few weeks and you’re doing her ironing unprompted 🤔

In her home? I've tidied and cooked some meals there. I don't live there, I'm just there 2 or 3 days or evenings a week.

She's never asked me to do anything in her home. Again, I've only known her a few weeks.

It's not that doing housework is attractive, it's that not doing your share of the housework is deeply unattractive.

Given that you don't live together, then you doing her ironing is probably just going to make her think you're weird. But by all means wash up when she's cooked.

The idea is geared more towards couples who live together. People who are knackered because they are doing all the housework aren't going to want sex, especially not when the person nagging for a shag is the one they're cleaning up after.

Well I thought you were in a long term relationship and she was trying to get you to do more. But it sounds like you’re doing quite a bit already if this is a new thing. If someone unexpectedly did my ironing I’d definitely be encouraging more of that kind of behaviour

On a scale of 0 to weird where would you put it? It was just something to do for brownie points at the time. But it got me thinking, as it's not the 1st time I'd heard the idea of women finding men who do housework attractive.

Topless ironing, seriously? Real men do their housework in the buff, by the way.
