Am I overreacting?? Or is this ok??

Ok need some outside perspective on this.

Ok so last week my brother came over drop some presents of for our little boy.
I let him in and got him a drink whilst we caught up and watched the football.
my girlfriend at this point was upstairs getting her PJs on and then joined us a few minutes later.
she entered the room, said hello and gave him a hug (nothing usual about that).
We have an ‘L’ shaped sofa and my brother was sat in the corner bit with me and my GF either side of him.
Whilst we were talking my GF stretched her legs out and rested it over on my side but her leg was over my brothers legs (not touching his) but essentially pinning him in when there was plenty of room at her end.
Now I was immediately really uncomfortable and I could tell my brother was so I had to text my GF to get your legs off the guest.

She did but then apologised to not being aware that she put them over him and laughed it off.. again it was awkward.

My point is that it could be suggestive at the most or at the least very awkward and uncomfortable. I said if he wanted to use the loo he’d have to ask her to move her leg.

Believe me I know how Silly this sounds as I’m typing but she thinks I’m over reacting and overthinking it. I don’t think I am as I don’t think it’s too much to ask to respect a visitors private space and not to invade it.
she has many visitors and I personally would never dream of doing that.

Thank you if you made it this far!!!

I can't envision this.

@RishisProudMum I very much appreciated the diagram. It genuinely aided comprehension. And was reminiscent of the Pompidou centre in Paris.

Excellent work.

Slig · 09/12/2022 00:43

@RishisProudMum I too was impressed by your diagram although if you flip it on its side, it looks like a face drawn by a toddler.

OldFan · 09/12/2022 00:45

It says her legs were over (above) the brother's, so it's more like this:

Yeah that’s weird behaviour- I think shes being a nob and not realised, or far too comfortable when guests are around,
or showing off maybe?

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/12/2022 00:53

Diagram?

OldFan · 09/12/2022 00:55

Thank you! I was feeling very sad I wasn’t getting any diagram appreciation. I can go to bed, now. 😁

I loved it too!😁

CourtneeLuv · 09/12/2022 07:36

Was she flashing him? Did she have gapey bottoms on?

Notarealmum · 09/12/2022 10:13

I can’t get beyond the fact you texted her….

DatingDinosaur · 09/12/2022 10:54

This is how affairs start. Bloody L shaped corner settees.

How else are people supposed to sit on an L shaped corner settee?

If you don’t want it to happen in future, put a coffee table there.

Have you considered therapy for your irrational possessiveness and phone addiction buying a regular sofa?

Nominating this for Mumsnet’s “Biggest Non-Issue Ever” award.

Nice diagrams BTW Grin

Aikko · 09/12/2022 10:58

Clearly she wants to bang your brothers brains out. 😅

Bookworm20 · 09/12/2022 11:00

Its all very odd. But he strangest thing is that you TEXTED her?
She was sat close enough to put her legs on you!

Why on earth not just say 'Oi, Barbara, get your legs off my brother you weirdo'

RishisProudMum · 09/12/2022 11:11

Thank you for all the diagram appreciation! 😂

I'm pretty sure if there was a gender reversal in this story 99% of users would tell you to ditch your partner.

She sounds gonna frisky though not going to lie.

pinkyredrose · 09/12/2022 13:10

Do you trust her?
