Sitting on husband (or wife) lap

Who still sits on their DP lap? Are you ever too old to do it? Used to sit on DH lap a lot. But now because I'm a bit bigger than him, he sits on mine.

No, but there’s never been much of a size difference between us. We’re similar heights and I’m only a couple of stones lighter.

Joyfultoes · 04/07/2022 18:35

Im just imagining all these living rooms where couples are sat up one end of the sofa on each other’s laps. How odd. And do you mean as in like a child does with their legs dangling off/ resting on the floor?

Sunnytwobridges · 04/07/2022 18:35

With my ex I wouldn't, he was tiny and I outweighed him by 50lbs. My bf before that I would occasionally, if he was sitting on the deck in the only chair, he would tell me to sit on his lap and we would chat. I didn't find it weird but probably would have if we were around other people.

Carrotzen · 04/07/2022 19:03

@Joyfultoes why is that odd? Is it anymore odd than the thought of a couple cuddling on one end of a bed? Or chosing to hug from behind in the kitchen rather than stand at other ends of the house?

It's a well recognised form of affection. It's really just another way of hugging your partner, unless you find the thought of hugging your partner odd.

Plus I think I grew out of caring if others were weird or odd when I was about 15! Who cares what other couples do!

If my DH sat on my lap I would never have sex with him again...ICK!
Like a little boy...Ughhh no.

Agree!

MsChatterbox · 04/07/2022 19:11

I do if my husbands sat in the computer chair and I want to chat/cuddle. Wouldn't on the couch

Ragwort · 04/07/2022 19:14

Can't imagine doing that in a million years ... but I loathe cuddling, sharing a sofa or even a bed Grin. I am just not a 'physical' person.

Ihaveoflate · 04/07/2022 19:14

Yes, I sit on my husband's knee (facing him) for a cuddle. It's nice in a completely non-sexual way.

BadNomad · 04/07/2022 21:42

He'd never walk again.

knackeredagain · 04/07/2022 21:49

I used to love it when XH pulled me onto his lap for a cuddle. Or he’d sit on the sofa with his arms outstretched in an invite. It was lovely!

Minimalme · 04/07/2022 21:57

I remember watching my cousin sitting on her fiancé's lap one Xmas. It looked really odd, sort of Father/Daughter but creepy.

I adore my dh and we have been together for 20 years. But I need to be 'in the mood' even for a simple hug. I couldn't cope with sitting on his lap!

Purplehonesty2 · 04/07/2022 22:50

Yes I do - say at a bbq there are no seats I would perch on his knee.

And at home I would sit in his lap for cuddles - but then he's huge and I'm tiny! He would often pull me onto his lap for a cuddle - he's such an affectionate man and I wouldnt think there is anything weird about a lap cuddle!

RaginaPhalange · 04/07/2022 23:00

Very occasionally for a couple of minutes at most any longer and his knees would be no more even though he tells me different. He's sat on mine a handful of times in almost 12 years.
