Sitting on husband (or wife) lap

Who still sits on their DP lap? Are you ever too old to do it? Used to sit on DH lap a lot. But now because I'm a bit bigger than him, he sits on mine.

OP posts:

Yes I sit on his lap quite often. He sat on mine today but that was just to fart on my leg and run off.

MissyB1 · 04/07/2022 15:33

Yes often when we are in our study looking at the PC, it’s a tiny room so only room for one chair.

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 04/07/2022 15:42

we call it a sit on cuddle

Vom 😂

SallyWD · 04/07/2022 15:51

I'm not fat but I'm 10 stone and I can imagine my DH being quite irritated if I sat on him - and vice versa!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/07/2022 15:53

Well, not in Church. Anymore

It cost us three Hail Marys and a Glory Be. EACH

Jackanackanory · 04/07/2022 15:53

I quite often sit on the arm of the sofa next to my DP and lean in to cuddle him, but I don’t sit on his lap. If I wasn’t quite so heavy, I probably would though. Nowt wrong with it.

lolil · 04/07/2022 15:55

I do t even sit on the same sofa as him Smile

If a man sat on my knee I’d get the ick immediately!

yep me too

WishICouldButIDontWantTo · 04/07/2022 15:57

I sit on DH's lap for kisses and cuddles now and again - especially if I'm feeling particularly down and need a bit of comfort (I'm 33 and he's 51). I would offer it if it were the other way around, but he's bigger than me so wouldn't work in the same way (I couldn't give him the same kind of comfort I get from his bigger cuddles).

BigFatLiar · 04/07/2022 15:59

Sometimes.

It was best when the girls were heading to their teens...'Oh mum behave'.

Loveisnotloving · 04/07/2022 16:00

If my DH sat on my lap I would never have sex with him again...ICK!
Like a little boy...Ughhh no.

Dasher789 · 04/07/2022 16:19

MIL sat on DH knee a few years ago at a wedding. Gave me the major ick. I'd never sit on his knee and it would be even weirder if he sat on mine

Ilosthim · 04/07/2022 16:39

If we were out and no seats, yes i used his lap 😃

JulyDreams · 04/07/2022 16:43

I never sit on DP's lap.

CMOTDibbler · 04/07/2022 16:52

No. He has crap knees, I have the boniest bum in christendom (you wouldn't think it to look at it), and thinking about it, I've never been a lap sitter anyway. I guess because I'm tall, its really not the same

1000chairs · 04/07/2022 16:53

@MolliciousIntent - Ha ha so true!!!

Yes, of course we do and been married 25 years. Often for a cuddle or if we want to chat about something quickly or I want absolute attention on an important matter.

maddiemookins16mum · 04/07/2022 17:00

We don’t anymore (I’d flatten the poor sod), however the day my Mum died (9 years ago), and I was sobbing he gently sat down, pulled me on his lap and held me as I weeped big, wet tears into his neck.

AnuSTart · 04/07/2022 17:03

I would but his tummy is too big. The other way round would mean death for me.

I do rub his knee though and wink at him in a lewd way when he least expects it. Like at funerals. (That bit was a joke)

HorribleHerstory · 04/07/2022 17:12

I can’t actually imagine this happening. I lay my head on his shoulder, perhaps it’s a similar motive/feeling?

I can’t even fit my bigger dc on my lap and I wish I could, it feels right to try and put them there as I do for my smaller dc but they just don’t fit and are really heavy

NerrSnerr · 04/07/2022 17:18

I genuinely don't need to sit on my husband to get his full attention.

LinuxPenguinPCnerd · 04/07/2022 17:38

Yes I do. My partner has ADHD, so do I ... it's a fun way to work with our ND-ness and make sure we're paying attention to each other properly. I tend to straggle them on a sofa and we kiss/cuddle :).

Yeah we "should" be able to pay attention to each other but with noise and kids around we don't find it easy.

Oncemoreforluck · 04/07/2022 17:52

Yes, sometimes if I want a cuddle. Problem is, the dog thinks she’s missing out so jumps on top of us both and starts licking faces, so it quickly descends into chaos.

forlornlorna1 · 04/07/2022 17:54

I'm 50 and my dh still pulls me onto his lap for a hug. It's a great way to clear any teenagers out a room we've found lol

Carrotzen · 04/07/2022 18:01

Yes I do. It's really not that weird. I don't see how it's any weirder than a cuddle or putting your legs on them on the sofa, it's just another form of affection

Just for 5 minutes for a hug. Or if I'm feeling really sad and in need of proper comfort. I'm not sure he's ever sat on mine apart from as a joke though

Panamii · 04/07/2022 18:29

I will happily sit on DHs lap if chatting but he's much bigger and heavier than me. I think it only works if there's a decent size difference. Him sitting on me would just be odd and painful. The only time this has happened is when I won't stop tickling him.
