Suspicious of DH

DH suddenly liking the music of a particular female artist. Not a new current artist, someone from the 70s.

Telling me that a particular group of singers are going to be doing a gig locally. When I look at him blankly (because I can't stand their type of music) he says 'you know the (blank blanks) don't you?', I go 'yeah but why are you telling me? I don't like that music do I?!'. He looks away, confused.

The song 'love the one you're with' comes on the radio while driving. At the point that line is sung, he goes 'ha'.

Would you be suspicious?

Only you know if there is a reason your spidey senses are up - you know your relationship best. I don't think you're necessarily being paranoid.

Are there any other reasons to doubt him? Working late, going for nights out with "mates" etc.?

Ps. Is he into stranger things? Because if so and the artist you refer to is Kate Bush - one of her songs has been at no.1 as it was featured in the show leading to a lot of renewed interest in her music (which happens every 5-6 years or go).

I have suddenly developed an interest in Credence Clearwater Revival.I also spotted they were doing a gig and arranged to go with someone who isn't my DP. Uh oh. Except it's my 78 year old dad and I like hippy music!

Apparently Kate Bush is No 1 in the charts a lot of people are suddenly liking her (again), is this cause for concern? She is from the 70s.

Going completely off topic (sorry), but KB was only just “from the 70’s”, (78/79), most hits were in the 80’s really and Running up that Hill, was released in ‘85 or ‘86 IIRC, from the Hounds of Love album that my DS played over and over and over and I bet she wishes she still had the vinyl copy.

WoozieFloozie · 28/06/2022 19:18

Haha, it's got to be Kate Bush? Maybe he's just downloaded the soundtrack for Stranger Things 4 😂😂

Happytap · 28/06/2022 19:20

It’s Kate bush isn’t it? Everyone and their dog has ‘rediscovered’ her because of stranger things

Mamette · 28/06/2022 19:27

Kate Bush also came to my mind.

Not sure about the other 2 things though.

Dirtylittleroses · 28/06/2022 20:57

Oh. No it can’t be Kate bush, everyone and their dog is back into her due to stranger things, 😂

GreyCarpet · 29/06/2022 00:29

I think some posters are being deliberately obtuse. It's quite clear that she thinks maybe someone else has introduced him to this artist or he was reminded of someone who likes her.

I also think the 'ha' at the line in the song they were listening to could be taken as somewhat sardonic on his part.

It wouldn't be enough on its own to actively suspect something untoward but a sudden change like this would get most people's spider senses tingling in reality.

It's not so much the what but the why.

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 29/06/2022 00:41

Was it Stephen Stills, Love the one you're with?

The lyric goes
if you can't be with the one you love
love the one you're with.

If so, I can see why you might be worried, since, in terms of the song, you were the one he was with.

Onthedunes · 29/06/2022 00:56

You are not stupid op.

You know him very well.

It's a culmination of minor things that clustered together paint a picture of unease.

Something is making you feel unsafe.

I hope it's just a new male friend influencing him.

Jumpingupoff · 29/06/2022 09:23

I think I know who it might be. She mentions the music on her social media and comments that she is going to see the local gig. She looks like a younger version of me so that could explain him forgetting it was me next to him in the car and not her but afaik she hasn't ever been in his car.

The music is not Kate Bush btw.

Well that was all worked out quickly! What is your next move?
