Is this negging?

I sent a picture of my face made up to go to a festival of a guy I’m messaging (we haven’t met yet) and he implied jokingly i was wearing too much make up. I was heavy on the glitter. We were chatting about something else and be mentioned how he had heard I could “glitter a turd”. The messages are very jokey but that has really pissed me off. For context I’m a petite blonde woman in my late 20s and not short of male attention. I’m not really awful looking and even if I was that’s unwarranted.

am I overreacting / should I joke back? I’m tempted to make a cutting joke back (in the name of banter ofc) and let it peter out. How dare he!

He’s also planned about a million different activities for us to do together despite not having met yet

Surely this is a red flag OP, no?

It's inappropriate and way too intense for most people for someone to be planning lots of shared time and experiences together before having even met to know whether there's chemistry / potential.

Way too much too soon IMO,

Yep. I unmatched someone for making a second date plan before we'd even met once. So presumptuous and creepy.

This guy is a mass of red flags.

Moretodo "I wouldn't want to be around someone who has this style of communication, ascerbic, toxic, spiky and mean spirited."

so well put. Even if he isn't negging, I really hate it when people communicate that way.

ThinkingaboutLangClegosaurus · 24/06/2022 00:52

I’ve never understood negging. Is any woman attracted by a man who belittles or insults her? I can’t see why.

Annoyedwithmyself · 24/06/2022 01:01

Just block him. What he said was extremely rude

apart from your weird square eyes you look lovely

Unsure56789 · 24/06/2022 01:50

Thanks! Square eyes were in order to anonymise the pic 😂

I'd much rather be high maintenance than have a bar so low you couldn't limbo under it.

You look lovely. Poor sad wanker can go without.

Fizzyfish · 24/06/2022 02:55

Obviously afraid you were going to get too much attention at the festival, I'll never understand why men think knocking a woman in this way is going to do them any favours? It's all about his insecurity, not any issue with you. Quite the opposite. Move on, you found out early what this one was like. And better luck next time.

badhappening · 24/06/2022 06:39

You need to give your (very pretty) head a wobble and ask yourself why you’re dragging this out and wasting your time with such a disgusting wanker???

Raise your bar a lot higher. Tell him he’s gutter snipe and block him.

gonnascreamsoon · 24/06/2022 07:10

OP, you need to ask yourself why on earth you're content to 'let this fizzle' slowly out ?

He has compared you to shit...
He has said you wear too much make up....
He has implied that you've had sex at Glaso.....within hours of being there.

So he has insulted you.
He has hurt your feelings.
He has basically implied you're 'promiscuous'.

And you're happy to simply let it 'fizzle' out ?
Why ? Are you concerned about his 'feelings' ?

Call him out and tell him exactly what you think of his 'behaviour' ! Then block !

velvetvixen · 24/06/2022 07:12

OP you are a Glasto Goddess! lose the sad wanker defiling your phone and learn to cut these low value negging twats off sooner.

gonnascreamsoon · 24/06/2022 07:12

Remember, he's done all that BEFORE he's even MET you !

What the hell kind of torturous and demented 'relationship' would you ever have with him ?

I hate to think how many 'crazy' Ex's HE has behind him ! Eugh !

bloodyunicorns · 24/06/2022 07:14

He's already made other jokes like that?? Oh no. Negging twat.

When you called him out on it, if it was a genuine accident, he'd have been horrified and apologised. He didn't. So that should tell you a lot.

Eddielizzard · 24/06/2022 07:22

Yes, negging. And you haven't even met yet! He's a total twerp.

Sisisimone · 24/06/2022 07:28

That comment is not 'jokey', its disgusting. He sounds awful. Just why would you let this go on and on and fizzle out instead of just getting rid? Why would you give him a second more of your time?

Herejustforthisone · 24/06/2022 09:11

What a horrible, insecure little beast he is.

HollowTalk · 24/06/2022 09:19

The reason he has a lot of things planned is so that you can't dump him because there's this mythical future ahead for both of you. I wouldn't meet him in the first place.

EmmaH2022 · 24/06/2022 11:30

OP I am a world away from all this
but I don't understand why you'd spend so much time, and send photos, without meeting first

isn't the best way to get a vibe off someone to actually meet them?

Don't do any of this. Don't engage. Just block.

rwalker · 24/06/2022 11:34

I don't really get the joke might just be bad humour .But if it was a joke or not your not impressed just move on no need to analyse or overthink.

Unsure56789 · 24/06/2022 13:03

I think the joke is that I am a turd. It’s the equivalent of the expression putting lipstick on a pig. I’m hideous and it’s funny that I’m putting make up and glitter on my ugly face 😂

(yeah I don’t get it either)

OP posts:
SheWoreYellow · 24/06/2022 13:07

Once could be a joke gone wrong. But more than one is really not ok. And you haven’t even met!

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 24/06/2022 13:08

This guy is just a herbert. Bin him!
