  8. boys suits - getting there
  9. my dress - been bought for 2years needs to be altered cant get hold of dress till next thursday....can it be altered in time?
10. hair and make-up - sorted 11. photographer - sorted 12. people invited (by phone) is that really rude? 13. my underwear - a complete nightmre due to wierd bra size (30JJ). any ideas? needs to be strapless, basque or bra not fussy.

Bra - go to www.bravissimo.com/ - pretty and in wierd sizes! Delivery is pretty fast and you can return easily.

Presents for bridesmaids, ushers, mother and MIL?

Shoes for you (v important - you need them before you get the dress altered!)

Order of service for the church - pick hyms/readings?

Travel?

Congrats to bealcain and scorpio1 - I loved my wedding - and loved organising it! You will have a fab time - just try to take a moment at some point in the day to stand with your husband and just watch your wedding and all the people enjoying themselves - that was the best advice I was given - if not you'll blink and miss it!

fishie · 04/01/2008 11:51

food and drink
something for your guests to do while you are having your photos taken
video

collision · 04/01/2008 11:54

Agree with fishie.

Make sure there is something for guests to eat and drink between the church and the reception.

there is nothing more boring than standing around waiting for the bride and groom not knowing what is going on!!

TillyScoutsmum · 04/01/2008 11:57

If you have any young children going - maybe get a few colouring books/crayons to keep them occupied during meal..

Speeches ..

Pressies (yours - list if you're having one plus thank you gifts for bm's, parents etc)

Hotel night for you and h2b

Don't think phone invites are rude - but maybe follow up with note/email with directions etc

Congratulations ! We got engaged in Summer 06 and still haven't got round to organising a wedding (although an 8 month old baby has sort of delayed things )

PontipineFinderGeneral · 04/01/2008 11:58

The groom?

ComeOVeneer · 04/01/2008 12:00

If you like, dot disposable cameras around the reception with a note asking geusts to take pictures then organise someone to collect them ll up for you to be developed later on. It will provide some lovely memories.

FoghornLeghorn · 04/01/2008 12:01

Right so far you need :

Rings
Jewellry
Shoes
Gifts
Venue Decorations
Food/Drink
Speeches
Accommodation (maybe)
Tiara/Veil ?

FoghornLeghorn · 04/01/2008 12:02

2nd the disposable camera's - although I've been married 18 months and mine are still in a box waiting to be developed

scruffymomma · 04/01/2008 12:06

I wouldn't bother with a prof video, some mates are bound to have a camcorder and how often do you think you'll really watch it?

I'm in your league bra wise and my saviour was rigby and peller - got a beautiful Goddess basque from there which was v. supportive and around £60 - the fitter was amazing, their central london store is the best if you can get to it. You'll DEF need to get your underwear sorted before the dress is altered. I'm normally a fan of bravissimo but even their basques didn't cut it support wise.

Where are you based? Chose your atelier for your dress very carefully. I know there is a very reputable one in battersea (sorry can't remember name) which works quickly and to a v. high standard. I ended up giving up on my last min dress alteration as I wasn't convinced it woulnd't make things worse.

I'd agree that favours etc are a waste of time unless you have the time and money. Think about the kind of thing that six months down the linewill still be in your memory. I didn't think the flowers would be important to me but I ended up doing them myself (bought from wholesale flower market) and was so pleased with them and proud of myself for having done em.

Good luck!!

bealcain · 04/01/2008 12:22

scruffy - i've just looked on their website and cant find the one you mean, dont suppose you could link it for me could you?

bravissimo aren't as great as i originally thought they keep fitting me really wrongly, so not going back there, plus they only one bra in my size...grrrr

i'm not even worrying about alterations until i've got underwear as i cant even get hold of my dress till next thursday....so....not sure on that one.

foghorn - love the disposable camera idea.

ComeOVeneer · 04/01/2008 12:23

bealcain, it was my idea!

bealcain · 04/01/2008 12:24

ComeOVeneer · 04/01/2008 12:36

Don't worry I was only teasing. I am hardly the first person on the planet to have done that for their wedding

soopermum1 · 04/01/2008 12:37

re the bra. i got a basque at rigby and peller, did the job no problem. don't think anywhere does strapless bras up to J cup, but experiment with sizes. make sure it's really really tight to hold everything up and to stop you jiggling. my baps were rock solid all day so ddin't spend the day fiddling and worrying

i'm a 34J by the way, was probably a wee bit smaller when i got married

slug · 04/01/2008 12:37

Music in the church

scorpio1 · 04/01/2008 12:38

FoghornLeghorn · 04/01/2008 12:39
