Was it a mainstream one, or one you paid for?

E harmony. DH and I have been married for 10 years now - 2 kids, massive mortgage - living the middle class dream.

We both only went on dates with each other, didn't have to wade through any Miss matches.

One of the guys I messaged but didn't meet I set up with my mate - they've been married for 6 years.

Met husband on bumble

welshladywhois40 · 22/12/2021 13:38

5 years ago and Match.

123sunshine · 22/12/2021 13:58

Match for me, 5 years ago, happily married. Previous to that I had used Match and dated a couple of other men for a few months at a time that hadn't worked out. I did try Tinder, but wasn't for me and never met anyone in real life.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 22/12/2021 17:24

@inininsomnia

Feeld, though not quite a dating site. People do not usually find year long relationships on Feeld...
Fab. Wasn't really expecting to find a relationship (nearly 3 years now) there. But we clicked, in lots of ways ...

Tinder. Almost 9 years ago though so perhaps it had a different vibe back then… I am by no means the only one of my extended friendship network though, there’s even been a Tinder divorce already 🥴

Isis1981uk · 22/12/2021 17:39

Plenty of Fish

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 22/12/2021 18:02

EHarmony, 10 years ago. Is it even still going?

Back then, the free sites were just awful - I felt dirty just reading the profiles, so I stuck to paid ones. I was on My Single Friend for a while with no luck, and another one I can't remember the name of before that.

I think I was internet dating for about 5 years before I finally met DH. It really was a slog at times but I'm glad I stuck with it. Hopefully DH is too!

Herecomesthesun70 · 22/12/2021 22:55

Plenty of fish. Together over 8 years and married.

stillvicarinatutu · 22/12/2021 23:03

Is it worth paying for elite singles at £50 a month ?

Cottagepieandpeas · 22/12/2021 23:06

Guardian Soulmates. No longer exists.

gogohm · 22/12/2021 23:10

@stillvicarinatutu

I paid £99 for 6 months, worth every penny as I met dp and he's priceless. No way I would have met him otherwise because lived in different regions. I was on it 4 months before I met him

rainbowdancegirl · 22/12/2021 23:11

I met my husband 12 years ago on Plenty of Fish

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 22/12/2021 23:13

bunglebells · 22/12/2021 23:22

Holbrook9 · 22/12/2021 23:42

Tinder. 7 years ago, married now.

MotherChristmas2021 · 23/12/2021 00:21

Free Dating. Met 15 years ago, married 7 years.

Bluedabadeeba · 23/12/2021 02:59

Plenty of fish. Together 7 years, married 1, small baby now. But as some others said, went on a fair few boring/weird dates first.
