... how do I start mine?

He calls me 'lovely' and 'sweetheart' which I definitely like, but can't think of anything to reply with - what affectionate terms can you use for a man?

I'm 50+ and so out of practice with this! Grin

@MsWaffle

My best mate calls me 'Sugar Tits' He's the only one that can get away with it tho
Yep, I get sugar tits from DP, although it's now tinsel tits - seasonal innit. Mostly though he's Yogi and I'm Boo Boo Grin, or he's handsome and I'm beautiful with the odd babe thrown in
SonicStars · 14/12/2021 14:33

I'd go for sugarplum.

I picked up "lovely" in Wales a couple of decades ago. First time I heard it it felt wrong but it quickly grew on me. I'm glad it's spread.

Oooh you could call him cariad. Hey cariad!

LH1987 · 14/12/2021 14:38

Sweet cheeks

MsWaffle · 14/12/2021 14:39

And I call him Cuntface ....

DoncasterHombre · 14/12/2021 14:47

Young Padawan
Yoda
Dora The Explorer/Ignorer/Implorer/Informer/Reformer/Transformer
Tiger
Zelda
You there!

Wiredforsound · 14/12/2021 14:48

If anyone called me sausage we’d be having strong words 😂😂😂

19Bears · 14/12/2021 14:58

I think a 'Hello you' is oddly very very intimate. And hot. From the right person.

19Bears · 14/12/2021 14:59

@Wiredforsound Ha ha, I read that as "strong winds"

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 14/12/2021 15:01

@HaveringWavering horse?

AngelinaFibres · 14/12/2021 15:04

@TellingBone

Oy fuckface
Or maybe "yo bitch"
RosiePosieDozy · 14/12/2021 15:04

I've never been called 'lovely' as a term of endearment by a man. I've been called a lot of things by men but never that Grin I've only ever known women to use this as a term of endearment. That's besides the point...

Terms you could use:
Handsome
Gorgeous
Babes/babe
Baby
Darling
Sweetheart/sweetie
My man
Sugar

I am sure some of those terms you will prefer and some you will hate. Use whichever ones you like and seem fitting

Vallmo47 · 14/12/2021 15:04

Fucking dickhead.

You’re welcome.

Some of these made me giggle.

grapewine · 14/12/2021 15:05

Not everyone is a cunt trying to lovebomb.

OP, if you're not comfortable with it yet, don't use a specific term just because. Have fun!

Darling and love for later, maybe. Babe not so much :-)

Alonelonelyloner · 14/12/2021 15:06

I use Duckie a lot

Eddmr · 14/12/2021 15:08

I use "my lover".

Charmatt · 14/12/2021 15:09

'Fartface'?
'Gitface'?

....I hate sucky stuff!

theemmadilemma · 14/12/2021 15:10

I use 'Hey baby' mainly, and Mr occassionally.

dropitlikeitsloth · 14/12/2021 15:12

@Themummilly

Run.

He can't use your actual name?!?

If DP used my name I’d wonder what I did wrong and why he was mad 😊
dropitlikeitsloth · 14/12/2021 15:13

When we are messing around we call each other ‘mate’ or ‘pal’ I don’t know why I just find it funny 😊

olivesnutsandcheeseplease · 14/12/2021 15:14

I think 'treacle' is your best bet

Or hot stuff maybe

Enjoy your lovely new beau

JustJustWhy · 14/12/2021 15:15

@Nanny0gg

When did 'Lovely' become a Thing?

It's an adjective!

Thank you! It goes right through me. I have a wonderful friend whom I love dearly who has taken this up over the last couple of years and I don't have the heart to tell her to JUST STOP, NOW!
Credenhill22 · 14/12/2021 15:21

Hi big boy

Gwenhwyfar · 14/12/2021 15:22

@blueshoes

Also, be aware of lovebombing where someone comes on too strong too soon but is hiding their true self for until you are hooked.
Wow. All these shopkeepers who I thought were just used to calling everyone 'love' have been lovebombing me along. How did I miss the red flags?!
EBearhug · 14/12/2021 15:22

My mother always advised calling men darling, "because then you don't have to remember the names." My mother didn't always give advice that should be followed, mind you.

I'm not keen on petnames, but it turns out from the right person, I will let all sorts pass with barely a sarcastic comment at all.

tillytoodles1 · 14/12/2021 15:24

My H often started messages with "Hi babe".
