Spot on, folks, with the Irish singer.
Cliff Richard is absolutely horrible.
Don't imagine that will be news to anyone though!
I once met him in his dressing room (that's not as dodgy as it may sound - my Dad was with me and it was kind of business-related) and he seemed nice enough; but he has had 'links' with certain people and circumstances that leave me a bit
I once met Feargal Sharkey backstage (also as a child - me, not him). I had a big bag of sweets and he asked if he could have one, to which I gladly obliged - very kindly, friendly man.
I never get the 'Don't you know who I am?' line, though - it's the celeb equivalent of the MN standard 'Did you mean to be so rude?' and just invites people to give you your come-uppance. Surely, the fact that they have to ask is proof positive that they aren't quite as universally famous as they assumed. I doubt the Queen has ever had to use that line!
It's interesting how some of the absolute megastars - like Paul McCartney - are the unassuming ones who will introduce themselves without expecting everybody to already know and who won't try to belittle ordinary people; maybe they know they have nothing to prove and have complete confidence in who they are and their place in the world, without having to stomp on the heads of everyday folk to seek validation and self-importance?
Personally, I wouldn't take any offence at all to a celebrity wanting to stay out of the limelight, wear dark glasses, just be left alone in peace with their family etc. The ones that stand out are those who are actively vile - screaming at people before anybody has said anything to them at all - or when the screamee is serving them as part of their job.
