Anyone have any thoughts on what this text means. I'm probably trying too hard to interpret it and the sender wouldn't explain.

U probably need to drink some 🍺🥃🍹🐔

Chill out

Sunshineandflipflops · 07/09/2021 13:10

Without some context it's impossible to answer that!

Tish008 · 07/09/2021 13:10

Context is king

GreyCarpet · 07/09/2021 13:10

Probably need a bit of context...

thistimelastweek · 07/09/2021 13:11

Can only guess.

Lighten up?

Workinghardeveryday · 07/09/2021 13:11

Your scared of doing something so have a drink and man up, you’re being a chicken about it

namechange30455 · 07/09/2021 13:11

@Feelingoktoday

Chill out
Without context, I'd assume this. They think you're being uptight about something.
Ughmaybenot · 07/09/2021 13:12

Depends on the context.

FeelingUnsureNow · 07/09/2021 13:13

Thanks for your thoughts. I was interpreting it in a pretty rude way and was hoping there were other ways of looking at it.

OP posts:
FeelingUnsureNow · 07/09/2021 13:15

Context was that we were watching the same show from different houses. The other person thought it was funny while it did nothing for me.

OP posts:
GreyCarpet · 07/09/2021 13:19

In that case it sounds like you enjoy different humour and he was suggesting that you'd find it funnier if you had a drink. Surely?

What did he find funny about it? Why did you not find it funny?

Eg I had a boyfriend once who thought the Fast Show was hilarious. It left me cold. In that sense, I'd take it as a light hearted quip. If it was hugely misogynistic humour, 🚩

Only you know/time will tell if he was making a lighthearted joke or being a dick.

FeelingUnsureNow · 07/09/2021 13:21

It was the rooster emoji on the end of the drinks that threw me....

OP posts:
DTW001 · 07/09/2021 13:21

I'd read it as them saying you'd probably find the show funnier if you'd had a drink! There are shows I can think of like that. I don't think I would take any offense by it x

Bimblybomeyelash · 07/09/2021 13:21

I’d assume that they had had a few drinks themselves , which was why they found it funny and you didnt.

Ahhcrap · 07/09/2021 13:31

I’m with you OP, I instantly read it in a pretty rude way 😅

GreyCarpet · 07/09/2021 13:31

Oh, I didn't notice that!

So he was suggesting you needed to have a drink or alcohol or suck his cock?

Nice...

Couldn’t that mean cocktail?
GreyCarpet · 07/09/2021 13:34

If so, that's a very misogynistic thing to say. Smacks of the old 'she needs a good seeing to' response. Like a woman is only ever not amused because she needs a dick in her somewhere and not because something isn't amusing.

I take it this is someone you've not been seeing for very long?

GreyCarpet · 07/09/2021 13:35

I'd say the fact he wouldn't explain means he intended to insult.

SpittinKitten · 07/09/2021 13:39

I read the rooster as "cock", but my brain just assumed he was northern and it was a bit like saying "get some beer down you, duck"
...
It didn't occur to me that he might mean dick 🤦‍♀️

I've been single too long Grin

Booboo24 · 07/09/2021 13:43

I too read it to mean 'chill out' but didn't take any notice of the Cockerel! If my fiance sent that I'd assume he was calling me a cock not any sort of sexual meaning, (gone are those days haha!!)

I'd just take it to mean maybe you'd have found it funnier with a drink, or maybe as I first thought, loosen up a bit?

FeelingUnsureNow · 07/09/2021 13:43

This is from someone I've known for a year. Perfect gentleman normally but does use the word 'cock' for a number of different things. I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill but I felt like he'd crossed a boundary if his message was intended that way. He seemed confused when I queried it.

OP posts:
inthekitchensink · 07/09/2021 13:49

Definitely means you need booze & cock Hmm ugh Charmer

GreyCarpet · 07/09/2021 13:50

Seemed confused but didn't clarify when you queried it? Hmm

He knew exactly what he was doing then didn't he?

chippe · 07/09/2021 13:50

Does he maybe mean it as a chicken?

As in "you need a drink you chicken" for courage???
