Hi ladies.
I'm on 2 dating sites and in the last few months have been left feeling hurt and disappointed by men I thought I had a connection with.

I've been ghosted, blocked, disappeared on etc.

I am weary and jaded already and close to coming off the sites but I don't meet men any other way!

Does anyone have any success stories to keep my hopes up?!

Met my fiance on Tinder in 2017. Baby on the way! I was 39, him 41. Both divorced.

My son met a woman on a dating app, he'd been single for a while. I wasn't happy about it because I don't think online dating is a good way to meet people but I didn't say anything because he's an adult.
10 years later they are still together and very happy and I couldn't have a better daughter in law.
It took him several attempts though and there were some strange people along the way.
Don't give up.

I met my husband on POF in Feb/March 2014, got married in May 2018 and I'm now pregnant with our first baby Smile.

7 years and could not be happier.

Not sure how old you are OP, but my daughter (now 32) met her lovely husband on Tinder 6 years ago. He was her first date. They now have DC.

At the other end of the age bracket, I'm in my 50s and have not been successful at all...until now! I've tried probably every site mentioned here for several years and had dates that were good, bad and and bloody awful...but never any that went further than date 2 (and that was rare!)

However, a friend recommended Facebook Dating a few months ago and the first weekend I connected with someone. We got on brilliantly, he's local and we have been dating for 3 months now. It's going really well...I know it's early days but for me, it's the closest I've come to being in a relationship since my divorce 14 years ago 🥰

Good luck to you ❤️

I think I got lucky too. Joined POF on a whim really as colleagues kept telling me I should. Had a look and decided it was way too depressing and that I would delete the app later on that day when home from work. Forgot about it and phone pinged with a message. Bloke looked nice so got chatting. Met up a week later and got married last year, been together 4 years now. So my OLD dating history equalled one date!! To be honest I knew it was not for me and if I had not have had that message I would still be single (which I was fine with anyway).

Oh my god I could write a book on all the bad dates before I met my DP!

I could tell you about the guy who 'forgot' his wallet, the guy who was surprised I didn't want to go for dinner after he'd talked at me for over an hour about how screwed up he was over his ex who he left his wife for and used to wait on stairs for him naked when he came home from lunch, or the guy who was waiting at the wrong tube station, or the guy who claimed to be the brother of Cath Kidston (he definitely wasn't) and so on...!

I also had some good fun dates that didn't go anywhere. I really had to stick at it though, over nearly 3 years I had about a 100 dates or so and then met my DP on Plenty of Fish and we just clicked. I was his first date after splitting from his ex and we've now been together over 9 years. He's not perfect but then neither am I - far from it and we muddle along quite happily most of the time and this suits me.

My advice (for what it's worth) is take breaks as and when you need to, don't waste time if you don't feel it, go for coffee rather than big dinners and don't settle for less that you are worth. Good Luck!

Sadly we’re not together anymore but I had a lovely 5 year relationship which came from one of my first matches on tinder. There are lots of goodens out there among some not-so goodens! 😂💛

samthebordercollie · 02/07/2021 13:02

I had 3 longish relationships over 8 years of internet dating, then met DH 3 years ago. I met a couple of weirdos, but generally it was a good experience. I'm 55 now. Most of the men I met were either a similar age or younger than me. There are good men out there, you just need to be patient!

lockef · 02/07/2021 13:04

I have been to a tinder wedding - still together and now with a baby and very happy.

I'm currently seeing someone I met online, it's been a few months, he's lovely, I'm not sure it will go the distance as I think he has issues with commitment (at least he's told me upfront!) and I've also met some nice but not for me guys.

I view it as strolling through the profiles of everyone in the supermarket the same time as you, 98% I don't swipe/am attracted to you and most of the 2% don't message or are married or are weird. Within that 2% you have to find the 0.001% that are decent and good company.
It's quite a job, you may never find anyone or you might meet someone on your first swipe - it's so random.

As a person who has always been in LTR and doesn't work with any hot men OLD is the only thing I can do (I'm not going to spend my time on hobbies I'm not interested in just on the slim chance I might meet someone) having said that, I am happy being single, not pressure baby wise, and have very low expectations which I think helps slot with the mostly inevitable disappointments

cheninblanc · 02/07/2021 13:17

Success here too, been together 10 years, married and very happy
