They swapped numbers

So, on Friday my boyfriend's motorbike broke down. A woman stopped, offered him a lift, they chatted for the roughly 5 minute journey. He had no cash on him to offer as a thank you, so asked for her number to get in touch later.

Hi is an absolute gentleman and very attractive to boot, we have a great relationship, no codes on phones, no secrecy blah blah.

What do you make of that?

When it snowed some men turnt up in a canoe and went down the hill. I said I would film him on the go pro, then I got his number so I could WhatsApp him the video later when I had downloaded it from the go pro. I messaged him the video and he said thank you
That was it. Lol. Not everything is malicious

Sillawithans · 17/05/2021 22:28

@FedNlanders absolutely not!

That was because you didn't have the opportunity to send it there and then .

This is different the opportunity was there to say thanks in person ...... Not to then have to text it later on aswel .

I'd just say to him if your that solid , did you manage to thank that lady from the other day?

Sillawithans · 17/05/2021 22:43

@Imjustsootired he wanted give her a little something. He did the same with a male the week before, I witnessed that myself. I might ask him, I'm not that bothered either way.

CoastAlong · 17/05/2021 22:47

If you haven't thought about it why did you post a thread?

If you're not that bothered anyway, why do you keep adding to the thread?

It's all very odd.

PineappleDreamer · 17/05/2021 22:50

I'd be suggesting maybe reconsidering my mode of transport if it broke down as frequently as his seems to do

Happycat1212 · 18/05/2021 00:03

I think it’s odd to swap numbers but if you’re not bothered by it then it’s a non issue and no reason for this thread.

seensome · 18/05/2021 00:40

It's very unusual for a woman to offer a lift to a strange man at all and with a journey of 5 mins what's the point. if he gets in touch what's he going to do offer a few pence in fuel costs, I really dont see the need if true to thank her anymore than he did in person, maybe he knows her already and it's a cover story.

OldWomanSaysThis · 18/05/2021 02:20

There's something weird about the story.
I probably wouldn't buy it as told.

Do women really offer rides to strange men? And she's not a Uber driver? He doesn't have Venmo or some cash exchange app? Was he really obligated to toss her some money?

RantyAnty · 18/05/2021 03:36

Sounds like he should get that bike repaired!

I wouldn't stop to give a strange man a lift.
I wouldn't exchange numbers either. I wonder if there was some flirty chat involved.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/05/2021 03:40

Sounds fishy. 🐡🐠🐟

I had an accident where a cyclist who was speeding down a very steep hill in heavy rain lost control and slammed into the bonnet of my car which was stationery. We had to wait for police and an ambulance. We swapped numbers for insurance purposes. He was good looking.

He texted me a couple of times to say sorry and give me an update on how he was doing at hospital. After a couple of messages back and forth my boyfriend did say 'I think you can stop messaging him now.' It was all harmless. I was in love with my BF (more fool me.... but that's another story).

I think it's completely harmless.

If I was in a similar situation I might give the guy a helpful life - I am a bit like that. But it would be on the basis my gut told me he was an okay guy.

Eviebeans · 18/05/2021 08:48

Is your friend stirring the pot? Does she have problems in her own relationship?

LibbyL92 · 18/05/2021 08:55

She lent him money so of course he needed her number to arrange paying back and thanking her again.

Please don’t worry anyone else would of done the exact same thing.

She could of just left him roadside, the fact she helped is a kind thing to do. We need more people like that in the world !

WhitePhantom · 18/05/2021 09:10

She lent him money?? Where are you getting that from?

bigbaggyeyes · 18/05/2021 09:41

I'm a biker, and other bikers will always stop and offer help. Maybe she's a biker or she's close to a biker. I don't find anything you've said is odd. More a reflection on your friend if she does tbh.

Outbutnotoutout · 18/05/2021 11:06

I guess it depends on what happens now.

If they start messaging daily about what their up to.

booboo24 · 18/05/2021 13:34

Years ago my now ex husband rolled his car, the driver who had pulled out of the junction causing him to swerve, hit the bushes at the aide of the road and roll.over drove off, the witness (female) stopped, he got himself out of the car but was shaken, she drove him home, made him a sweet cup of tea, called the police and then drove him back to his car. He thanked her profusely, she waited with him until the police arrived, I got there not long after. After they had given him a hard time for leaving the scene of an accident he used the number she had left as a witness to thank her once again.

So, going off that I don't think its odd that a woman gave a strange man a lift in those circumstances, I doubt I'd leave someome stranded either. They swapped numbers....depends on what he does with that number now doesn't it, but it wouldn't ring alarm bells with me just yet.

Rubyreddiamond · 18/05/2021 16:36

Is he going to send her flowers or something? I wouldn’t give a man a lift home. I wouldn’t give a man my number unless I thought he was single and we had chemistry ( before dh) I find it weird. Surely, he said all his thank yous when she dropped him off

Rubyreddiamond · 18/05/2021 16:39

@booboo24 I think this is a bit different- to see someone have a big accident, come out all shaken up etc as opposed to someone breaking down.

booboo24 · 18/05/2021 16:48

@rubyreddiamomd I guess so, I suppose I was thinking maybe she actually saw him breakdown, in that instance I'd probably have helped him too. Maybe that's a bit naive though safety wise

booboo24 · 18/05/2021 16:48

Sorry, diamond not diamomd!

GoddessKali · 18/05/2021 17:06

I met my ex boyfriend by inviting him and his housemates to my house for a cup of tea to warm up as their building had collapsed - so you never know!
However in that case we were both single and I'm sure your boyfriend meant nothing by it and is just a nice guy :)

Sillawithans · 18/05/2021 20:46

Thanks for replies.

I'm not the slightest bit worried, he's the best person I've ever met and treats me very well.

I was just curious to know how other women would react to this.

OP posts:
Rubyreddiamond · 19/05/2021 08:00

I wouldn’t be overly bothered but would be curious why they swapped numbers ( ie was he going to send flowers etc) but then I’d probably forget about it
