Would you stay friends with him?

I was dating someone for 8 months - there was always a gut feeling that I was not 'exclusive'. Things went quiet for 2 months and I saw photos of him and his new partner on social media - which was a horrid way to find out.
He has sent a message to let me know he has met someone else but loves my company and wants to still see me as a friend and my daughter when he has his daughter. I don't think I can do this as I still have feelings for him, I feel he made a fool of me and was deceitful and dishonest. I ended up sending a message saying it would not be fair on his new partner as he should spend time with her and her children building on their relationship and memories.

Just block him.

Fyredraca · 15/06/2021 13:42

Wow, you have definitely dodged a bullet there OP, what a prince.
Honestly can't believe the sheer brass neck of some people.

4bluebabies · 15/06/2021 13:48

Don’t reply to him at all OP - don’t give the message any more thought . It’s a stunning day maybe you could do something nice with your daughter after school 🤞🏻

IndecentCakes · 15/06/2021 13:50

New phone, who dis? Grin

MadMadMadamMim · 15/06/2021 13:52

I would not dignify that with a reply.

I would block him now. That says it all.

He doesn't get to pop in and out of your life, disrupting your peace of mind when he feels bored.

You've behaved extremely well.

This bit stood out to me:

...wants to still see me as a friend and my daughter when he has his daughter.

It is clear he was using you then and is trying to use you now. He is looking for a free babysitter, with maybe some sex on the side.
Don't fall for it. This guy is a manipulative jerk. Just because he smiles when he does it, doesn't make him nice.

Sandra15 · 15/06/2021 15:19

Well isn't he a treat? He'll be on to the next one before too long and this woman from work will be made to feel foolish and embarrassed as she still has to see his fizzog at work!

billy1966 · 15/06/2021 19:42

Ignoring his type drives them mad.

Completely ignore.

You dodged such a bullet.

So, a month on and you e not blocked him yet, although you did say you would. The drama can be addictive in itself. You really ought to block, but will you?

tinysundancer · 16/06/2021 09:45

So I went for a nice evening walk with my friend and daughter and bumped into him in the high street. A polite hello. Then the late night texts came in asking to meet up with our daughters in a beer garden - really missed us etc - even asked if I had any local gossip??!!.He has no remorse for how he treated me. I kind of feel empowered now knowing he is not happy with his 35 year old secretary and he is just using me as a go between because he is too weak to be on his own. I guess I did not block him not because I wanted him back but just to see if he would get back in touch - I did not reply

You are right the drama can be addictive and I should have blocked him

So block him. You've bumped into him now and he's done what you thought he would do. You win. No more games.

Opentooffers · 16/06/2021 21:24

You've only won when you no longer care about his life, but while you are still waiting for next contact, still keeping involved, still keeping up with his latest escapades, you are not moving on.
Been interested in looking for anyone else lately, or still consumed by the drama?
