Is he doing cocaine?

Bit direct here, but I believe hubby is doing cocaine and I actually need advice, I may be paranoid or there may be a perfectly logical explanation....
Reasons I believe he's on coke- he's anxious, has tummy troubles, sinus problems, I always see tissues in the bin with like bloody snot, bit paranoid, bit defensive and is a bit of an alcoholic. When he drinks sometimes i kiss him and I can smell coke (also I sometimes catch him and he's super shifty!!!) but I just can't rationalise that he's doing coke whilst were watching 'gavin and stacey' for example just having a couple of glasses of wine?

Anyone been in a similar situation? X

Good luck OP! Could you just ask him? Tricky situation for sure

I just wanted to add that the quality of coke in some areas is incredibly poor meaning that it is perfectly possible to have a few lines and sit and watch television especially if taken with alcohol which will calm the anxiety type affects. I know people who take it and just go about their daily business, using it like a caffeine pick me up for mental alertness and you wouldn’t actually know they were taking anything unless you knew the more subtle signs.

I’ve asked people why they take it if there’s no real buzz and they say they still enjoy the excitement of buying it and the feeling of having a line even though it does very little.

The act of doing it however is harder to hide if you live with someone, frequent bathroom trips, money unaccounted for, popping out every day/or at the weekend for some reason then disappearing off when they get back. Also coke for some reason makes most people poo a lot, especially after the first couple of lines, don’t know if it’s because of the adrenaline or something they mix into it but it’s definitely a common side affect.

Bloody tissues are the only thing tats standing out for me. The tummy and nerves could be down to lockdown. You seem to have had some past experience with coke ;no judgement) so I’d suggest one night, “this might sound nuts but do you want to get a few gs?” And see if he jumps at the chance or magically produces a few bags.

I had an ex who was a coke head. You can definitely smell it on them if you know what you're looking for.
All the signs definitely match addicts I've known and loved. Bloody hankies is a huge sign along with the jittery anxiety and paranoia. Regular toilets trips another sign of addiction, people can hide a lot in cisterns (and pockets)

famousforwrongreason · 25/05/2020 01:47

He's unlikely to magically produce it if asked out of the blue when been hiding it for so long, addicts are a bit more cunning than that, he's not going to just own up to a longterm lie unless he's really stupid. . They're notoriously selfish too, he's not using it to be sociable so not going to rush to share it.

famousforwrongreason · 25/05/2020 01:53

So much crap advice and ill informed opinions on here op. There's a few people who know what they're talking about but you'd be better off going to Frank or another proper drugs forum.
Addicts can and do just sit and watch telly. Addiction is not like taking it for fun. They are taking it because they are addicted, not because they want to be in party mood.
Coke addicts on the whole are not chattery bubbly little social animals all day every day. It can also make them quite nasty. And brooding. And angry because they don't want you around so they don't have to sneak off.
Also chopping with a card isn't the only way to use coke and a sniffing sound can be disguised by flushing toilet and people can also use it topically on their gums for example.

famousforwrongreason · 25/05/2020 01:58

There is also lots of synthetic coke on the market, what was legal highs and things like ritalin etc, so he doesn't have to be spending a fortune on the real deal if he has a huge habit he could be mixing it up a bit

crosssy · 25/05/2020 02:09

@slightlyjaded

Has it exact!!! Say you want some. And If he pulls it out you will know! Drugs are boring alone. Much more fun if your with someone

Gutterton · 25/05/2020 02:11

If you do get some “concrete evidence” what does that look like and what is a dealbreaker for you? - using at home? How much? Because he might say it was a “one off” etc.

What’s his drinking pattern like?

eeehbyegum · 25/05/2020 03:15

It sounds like he might be doing coke. Unsure about the smell though.

One way to tell, would be to try it on with him. Touch his willy and see if it’s half the size. It makes penises much smaller, but men much more horny in general - How much of an calamity is that?!
