So I've posted on here (under different names) a number of times about my useless "D"P. In summary, we have an almost two year old, Partner is an alcoholic and in transpires, although I didn't know this, has a gambling problem. Final straw, he gambled all his wages away this month, lied to me about it for two weeks and now I'm left with no money. I've told him to go. Now I am sitting here working out my finances and I'm stuck. I have 2750 coming in every month and 2800 in bills/rent/ debt /childcare. (Before food/petrol)
So I've cancelled the cleaner, DS's tots football, Netflix, Spotify, audible and Prime. That saves me about 120. Just got off the phone to the bank, as I'm paying out 509 pound a month on a bank loan, car loan and credit card (10,000 all in) but they won't consolidate as bad credit. What else can I do? I can't sell the car as I work 45 minutes away. Nothing else of value to sell and no family to help? Any ideas?

Another thing which might help.

Check your direct debits there may be things there which you’re paying but don’t need to be (gym membership for example which you don’t use).

Also with any debts where possible cancel the direct debits and pay by standing order the amount you’re already paying plus a couple of £ extra will pay off things quicker. )this works for credit cards best -)

I'm guessing so, but just in case, are you getting tax free childcare? The government pay 20% of your childcare costs, every little helps!

Really sorry to hear this, OP Thanks

Weird question but are you in a trade union? I found out a fortnight ago that you can claim backdated tax relief back on union subs for up to 4 years in the past. Put my claim in last week and reckon I'm due about £400. See photo for website. Only a 1-off payment but might be helpful in the short-term.

Also, if any of your household contracts are up for renewal see if switching suppliers can take money off your monthly bills.

Do you pay school meals for DC? If so, make sure you let school know of changed circumstances as you might be eligible for FSMs now.

Sending you hugs.

Shit! Sorry! Wrong photo! This is the one you need.

This is what happens when you try and post whilst making DS's breakfast. Can't multitask.

Could you get childcare vouchers from work?
Also make a claim through CSA but go for the option where they take the money off him, not the one where they give him the opportunity to pay, from experience with a gambler, he might gamble it all away before he pays you.

Do you wear a uniform to work? You can get an allowance for washing it according to money saving expert. Get on there and see if anything else rings a bell as it’s fab Smile
