What things does you DP/DH do to show you how much they love/respect you?

My DP has been an absolutely angel today.

I've been feeling really really ill (period after 6 months - thanks mini pill!) and awful cold.

He's just popped into my house, with a bagful of medicines, nice tea, sweets, chicken soup from my favourite restaurant, magazines, bubble bath and shower gel, new PJS and socks plus sanitary items.
He then got DD (not his) ready and has now taken her out for tea and to go and see him mum for a bit.

He's my friend of 10+ years so we know each other in incredibly well (and know the good&bad ins and outs of each other) and I love him to pieces.
But he really has outdone himself just now.

Have you got anything to add? I always see such negativity on here about partners and relationships (I've been in a hideously abusive relationship) and it's so upsetting to know there are still so many people out there that think they're deserving of these wankers.

Such lovely posts. It sounds silly, but it really does give a new faith in relationships.
Especially if you've been in something shitty.

@Poolbridge I'm so glad you're getting away. You deserve so much more and there is a wonderful man out there, waiting to do all the things that make you feel happy and loved, if that's what you want.
There's no fortune. You deserve it!

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I see it the exact way you do.
He cares only for his comfort. Never mind the fact that you've not stopped all day.

@Sweetpeach3 Oh god, I'm sorry.
These men are utter, utter bastards and it infuriates me that any of them think that acting in such a way is even remotely acceptable.
I can feel my blood boiling.

Every single morning for 13 years he's brought me coffee in bed in the morning. :)
He does all the food shopping and most of the cooking too. He'll clean bathrooms, vaccum, dust, do washing and ironing, just everything I might want help with really.
But, to me, it's the morning coffee that shows me he loves me :)

Works very hard to learn about emotions and feelings and how to support someone who's sad. This wasn't taught in his family and its something really difficult for him but hes a star.

Monitors my eating when I am sad (I'm a chronic under eater) and brings me food that he knows I will be able to eat.

Drives me around, runs any errand at any time of day or night, runs me a bath, makes me hot drinks, politely entertains horrible relatives so that they leave me alone.

Supports my DS (not his) through his painful perfectionist streak, coaches his emotions, helps him with strategies for learning new things, spoils DS with gifts and takes DS part when mummy is being a dragon about something silly.

Builds me up and encourages me, makes a fuss of me. Never had someone do that for me before.

I live in fear of something happening to him, hes my rock and my haven.

Cooks dinner after working all day. It's not one of my strengths unfortunately, but it's definitely one of his. WineGrin

Gets up every morning at 6:30 to feed our dogs.
On my work days brings me porridge and coffee in bed.
On my days off he brings me coffee and a banana because I go running.
Runs me a bath in the evenings and lights candles in the bathroom.
He’s lovely 😊

@Bunnylady53 I would also like to know how the change happened please!

GetTheSprinkles · 30/10/2019 22:46

Love this post & you're so right, we tend to overlook the positives and focus on any negatives. It's refreshing Grin Your guy sounds like a gem!!

DH used to threaten to leave, which messed with my head, but it took him offering to actually leave ( temporarily) for things to begin to improve. It certainly didn’t happen overnight & we are still dealing with the effects on DD but our relationship is so much healthier now. We’re having family therapy & generally communicate a million times better.
