My husband has booked us a holiday of a lifetime that he has always wanted but after have found out my daughter is expecting a baby , we will be away 15days before and 3days after her due date ,it can’t be changed and I can’t express how guilty and emotional I feel about it , my daughter and I are extremely close and I wouldn’t have missed this for the world ,the holiday is going ahead but I feel sick about it and can’t bring myself to get excited, how many of you have given birth without your mum around ? Do you think it is more me wanting to be there rather than my daughter needing me ? She has an amazing partner

My mum lived in a different city with my first...he was 2 days late and she came the weekend after he was born.

My second id asked her to he my birthing partner, she won a trip sat on my due date declared "babies never come on their due date" mine did! She fought believe it when I rang!

All was fine, had a lovely birth!

My mum is quite an anxious person and had booked a holiday around my due date, so I fibbed about my due date and put it back a week, and was just very vague to others. DS was a week late (but my mum thinks he was born on his due date!) and she was home by then!

I can't imagine anyone would want their parents to miss a holiday of a lifetime, especially when there's no guarantee the baby will be born by then.

To be honest even having her boyfriend there isn't a necessity. All she needs is decent medical professionals and she'll be well away.
