Hospital dilemma

I need to get clothes to someone who was admitted to hospital this evening in London. Anyone know who delivers next day( men's clothing). I checked h & m but they only deliver to residential addresses.

I don't know but Next is very fast

AMAM8916 · 16/09/2019 00:21

I would try TU clothing by sainsburys, they have delivered next day to me before

BringMoreCoffee · 16/09/2019 00:28

Would it be worth ringing hospital reception in the morning? They may know who delivers other than RM. Of course also expect some lag between it arriving at hospital and finding the recipient.

Jingers5 · 16/09/2019 00:31

Thanks l will call them in the morning. I may have to buy clothes etc and post myself, might be easier.

Hospitals don’t have staff with time to be taking deliveries and locating the patient they’re intended for. What’s the story?

Blahblahblahnanana · 16/09/2019 00:39

Next do next day delivery

S021 · 16/09/2019 07:52

The hospital won’t receive a delivery.
Is there someone you could send stuff to who is near enough to take it in?

AuntieStella · 16/09/2019 08:05

It might be worth seeing if the hospital has a Friends Of group - in the sense of multi-purpose usefulness (not fundraising), and see if youcan transfer money for one of them to shop and deliver to the ward.

SimonJT · 16/09/2019 08:07

Next do, I had a hospital stay a few years ago and ordered some things as there was no one to bring me clean clothes. Just make sure you pop the ward name on it.

maternityleave234 · 16/09/2019 08:10

Next do next day delivery, just make sure it’s in stock and it will arrive in time

dizzy174 · 16/09/2019 08:12

used to be a time when carriers wouldn't deliver to hospitals

ThePhoenixRises · 16/09/2019 08:24

Amazon prime do same day delivery and Next do next day delivery

Debrons · 16/09/2019 08:26

Next is your best bet. Super quick

Nanny0gg · 16/09/2019 10:56

M&S do next day if you pay extra.

I'm sure that's what we did for my uncle when we were too far away to get there quickly. And they do toiletries too.

curlykaren · 16/09/2019 10:59

Which hospital? I'm close to both St Thomas's and Guys.

Jingers5 · 16/09/2019 18:10

Thanks all for your replies.
Curly Karen, it's Lewisham hospital. The guy is quite ill at the moment so is not thinking about fresh clothes or toiletries just yet.

Next use Hermes, so just a normal car. I doubt they'll deliver to a hospital because they won't want to pay parking charges. Same with Amazon's own deliveries, it would cost more for them to park than they'd earn for the delivery.

I got a delivery from M&S today that I only ordered (standard delivery) yesterday. That was from DHL.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 16/09/2019 18:24

Try the Patient Welfare Forum, they may be able to help you.

RB68 · 16/09/2019 18:31

Amazon sells clothes as well

CrystalTits · 16/09/2019 18:38

Is there an Amazon locker on the hospital site? The patient welfare team might help you to get the clothes from the locker to the ward.

Blushingm · 16/09/2019 18:52

Amazon

Jingers5 · 16/09/2019 19:11

The problem with Amazon is that each item is from different supplier so will arrive in separate packages/different days. It needs to be one package.

HeddaGarbled · 17/09/2019 00:09

If he’s too ill to worry about clothes and toiletries, why do you need to send them? I’m not trying to be argumentative but if this is a new experience for you, you may not know that the hospital will provide gowns and essentials.

Broken11Girl · 17/09/2019 00:43

What a bizarre and patronising comment Hedda Hmm maybe OP wants her friend to have nice stuff rather than hospital basics?! Maybe that will help him feel a bit better.

OP, is this a mental health admission? MH hospitals accept parcels, care packages from friends and family are common.
Next and Debenhams seem to do next day and deliver to 'work' addresses - they don't know it's not his place of work. TK Maxx, Topshop maybe also worth a look. But yes you could also buy stuff physically and post to him, lots of options for speed, tracking etc m.royalmail.com/price-finder
Hope he feels better soon, it's kind of you to want to help SmileFlowers

HeddaGarbled · 17/09/2019 01:11

I’m sorry, I didn’t intend to be patronising. I have had a lot of very recent experience as the relative of patients in 2 NHS hospitals and the idea that there are staff who would have the time or inclination to process such a delivery seems like it comes from someone who doesn’t have much experience of hospitals.
