Age difference

Please can I have your honest opinions. I've gotten opinions off friends but I'd like to see if they are the same with opinions on here...

Over the past few weeks (very early stages) I have started to see a guy who is lovely. There is one thing potentially holding me back ... the age difference between us.

I'm 26 and he is 42. He will be 43 this year... what do you think?

He is a young 42... at the moment anyway. I wonder if it will change in the future ?

Anyone had any similar experiences ?

Thanks

31 year difference here. As long as you’re open and clear about what you want in life (kids, travel, lifestyle etc) and those things align, then go for it. It’s up to you to do the things that make you happy. And if he makes you happy in every way; then how can you let a difference in years you were born stop you from exploring and having that happiness

@hellsbellsmelons have to say I think your comment is incredibly rude and not at all helpful. Saying it’s “ick” to have an age gap in a relationship...years ago that’s what people said about those who fell in love with someone of a different ethnicity or fell in love with someone of the same sex. Love is love! You need to be more open minded or just keep unhelpful comments to yourself. As for a parent being 60 while the child is still a teen... you do realise that women (and men) are having kids later and later due to finances, waiting to meet the right person, establishing career? Women have successful careers first a lot more now and plenty of women I know are having kids in their 40’s and so will be 60 when their children are still teens. So what’s the problem?

It's just my opinion.
It's not necessarily rude.
I have a daughter of 21 and I would find dating someone 16+ years younger than me 'icky' as well.
Like I say - each to their own.
A lot of people are very happy with age gap relationships.
As long as it works for YOU then that's great.

I think it's OK, you're only going out together, not settling down for life and it's early days. At the moment, your boyfriend is probably still very youthful.
