Anyone else not receive anything for mothers day?

Not even some nice words of appreciation. No card. Nothing. Apparently I'm not his mother so he isn't supposed to get me anything. And our child is too young to choose anything so he didn't have to acknowledge mothers day. Other than us going to take his mum chocolates and a card. (3 hour round trip)

Am I silly for being upset!?

Do the same Father's Day and see how he enjoys it

Paulettepink · 01/04/2019 01:14

I plan to. Quite looking forward to it actually

No, why would you think you are silly for being upset? That's really hurtful that you devote your day to his DM,without so much as an acknowledgement for you.

Shit, and yes, hurtful and upsetting.

Have some Flowers

Thank you Smile

JamAndCroissants · 01/04/2019 01:22

this

BecauseYouAreWorthIt · 01/04/2019 01:37

Father's day, birthdays and Christmas, he gets the same said to him.

pissedonatrain · 01/04/2019 08:06

very hurtful and mean.
You are the mother of his child so you should be celebrated.

He can sort his own mum out next time.

Notcoolmum · 01/04/2019 08:08

Ouch. That’s really mean :(

Calzone · 01/04/2019 08:08

Defrost nothing for Fathers Day.

In fact, book the cinema for yourself and have lunch out.

And make him do the trip to his flipping mother on his own.

What a tool.

Is he nice to you on your birthday and Xmas?

Bomballerina · 01/04/2019 08:09

Unfortunately yes. I received nothing also. Had to spend the day with MIL so basically he celebrated his mum. I threw a strop afterwards so we’ve got a restaurant booking for next weekend 🙄

Calzone · 01/04/2019 08:09

Don’t defrost

Definitely was what I meant 🙄🙄🙄

Parky04 · 01/04/2019 08:27

I always bought things on behalf of the DC when they were younger. When the DC are young I don't get men saying that "you are not my mother so I don't have to bother". Why wouldn't you show the woman that you love that she is fully appreciated and she is a fantastic mum!

Paulettepink · 01/04/2019 11:43

Parky04 that's what I was hoping for 😞

Bomballerina I'm sorry you are in the same boat as me. Pleased though you are now celebrating next week. Enjoy

Mean and horrid!

Let him visit his mum on his own next year and fuck all for Father’s Day too

Paulettepink · 01/04/2019 11:56

He will be spending fathers day without us as I very much doubt he will spend the day with my family.

Apart from a short text from DD saying she thought it was next Sunday, absolutely zilch.
Not a word from DS (I doubt my DGSs forgot!)
Very hurt actually, possibly unreasonably so.

mummmy2017 · 01/04/2019 12:00

So make a big deal of your dad.
Nice card some gifts, wrapped and leave out of sight, just grab it as you go...
Tell him he is right until your child can spend their own money and time on a gift then both of you get nothing...
I would buy a card today for yourself, and use some paint to press babies hands and feet onto it as a keep sake.

Paulettepink · 01/04/2019 12:04

Good idea. Maybe I should buy myself some flowers too. Bet they will all be going cheap today lol

That's pretty nasty.

I was working so didn't get to see my kids. Dh sent a whatsapp at lunchtime (when he remembered no doubt) of the 4 yr old wishing me a happy mothers day. He visited his own mum to cook dinner and baked a cake with the kids to bring to her.
To be fair , he did buy me a gift from the kids but he handed it to me and said "its not from me so you might want to wait to open it".

I'd have like for him to acknowledge all i do for the kids.

DioneTheDiabolist · 01/04/2019 12:14

Last Mother's day my DP got me nothing.
This Mother's day ExDP got me a card and some chocolates.

Fedupofthisrubbish · 01/04/2019 13:02

No and I'm absolutely raging. It was my first mother's day. I remember him out shopping with his daughter for his ex coming up to mother's day when we were first dating.

I am thinking of leaving him tbh. Not just over this obviously.

AmIWelcome · 01/04/2019 13:07

We only have a dog and I got my missus a card - she is like his mum after all.

Heartofglass12345 · 01/04/2019 13:30

This is a sign of things to come I'm afraid. Lack of appreciation. Do you do everything for him as well as your child?
