My partners family dog got in a fight with my dog and bit her on the head.
I can't sleep worrying its going to get infected as it's deep and open.

I want to get it looked at but people think I'm over reacting and tea tree oil been put on it and that's all that's needed apparently but I really need some advice.

Our house is joined to there's and he never comes into our bit and to start a fight with the dogs so randomly is really out of character that they don't really believe he did it I don't think but my other dog is a whippet kind and a husky breed is massive in comparison to our dogs.

Why have you got all these dogs if you can't care and he won't care for them?

Maybeitsjustmeor · 01/04/2019 01:23

We have the funds so I will insist that I take care of her tomorrow whatever shit storm gets thrown at me. I can't leave this to chance. Thanks everyone I really needed to hear that this needs sorting and I'm not being over the top.
Sorry for badly written msgs I'm struggling to even grasp what's happened.

If you call an emergency vet they won’t ask for payment up front, they will treat the dog and then look at repayment. Please get the dog looked after. Then consider whether you should have pets with no insurance or money to look after them if something bad happens

Hellenbackagen · 01/04/2019 01:24

Love I think you might have bigger problems....
But well done and stick to your guns that dog definitely needs a vet .

Maybeitsjustmeor · 01/04/2019 01:25

We have two dogs. I had my staffy and he had his before we met each other and have been together years with no issues. Please don't make me feel even more worse right now.

Also OP Google wound care for dogs and see the frequent online advice re:tea tree oil not being appropriate, it can be toxic and should never be used neat, always watered down and not on open wounds. Shows how much your DP knows really about the care of animals. Do advise the vet you've used it and how when you take your lovely dog there.

If you are scared of him OP then there are ways out of these situations and people who can help. I would probably rather call the RSPCA on my DP if he behaved this way than let my dog suffer.

Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 01:26

Please don’t leave this until tomorrow, your dog is suffering now

Thisisthelaststraw · 01/04/2019 01:26

For now it doesn’t matter how it all came to be. What matters is the dog needs to be treated by a vet and you seem to be in a situation where you have no access to joint money.
If you say “dog is getting seen so fork out” what do you expect the reply to be? I’m not sure if you’re afraid of him or not which is why I’ve suggested other things to avoid having him pay. Really you should have joint funds and this shouldn’t be an issue but it is. Why?

Eatmycheese · 01/04/2019 01:27

Jesus get the dog to a vet. You might be able to pay in chunks. Do you have insurance, and if so what’s the excess?

If you can’t afford to care for an animal - or in the case of your partner who sounds hideous, treating you and the dog this way - then please rehome them.

Poor dog. I hope they are ok. That will be causing a lot of pain and distress. Imagine if it were you and you were caged ( because it is caged isn’t it) bleeding from a round and in pain. But nobody did anything about it.

Do the right thing.

Maybeitsjustmeor · 01/04/2019 01:33

We have a joint account the vets is next door but not open. I don't drive. But I can take my dog there first thing when it opens. I can't do anything else without waking people up to help get me to a 24 hours vets. I know this isn't right. But that is best I can do right now. I'm going to wake him up now and tell him again I don't think this is right. I've just been in shock

OP posts:
Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 01:35

Yes wake people up, if he doesn’t agree keep waking other people up until someone will take him to a 24/7 vets. Do you know your nearest? Have you called them?

Maybeitsjustmeor · 01/04/2019 01:38

They sleep in a dog cage because we thought with having a new baby you need to have safety measures in place. They are caged dogs they go on lots of walks and go to work with my partner who does love them but is deluded with this whole dogs will be dogs mentalty.

She's a staffy do you know how many are in shelters never to be rehomed.

There's no way I would rehome her after one incident. We are about to move into our new home. This is a freak accident and I love my dog's.

Your vets should have an out of hours network number to call, if you ring the vet, there will be an OOH number given you can call.

Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 01:57

Each minute you delay this your pet is suffering

Frequency · 01/04/2019 01:58

Your dog needs treatment now, really but I am getting the feeling you're not in a great place right now. If you receive any benefits you can get emergency treatment for free at the PDSA. Google your closest branch and wake a driving friend or family to take you.

Or wake a driving friend who receives the qualifying benefits and get them to say it's their dog

Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 01:59

Maybe the vets can help with transport if you don’t think your OH will, but please by morning it may be too late

WatcherOfTheNight · 01/04/2019 01:59

I think you know it needs treating but they've made you doubt yourself.
The sooner you go the better for your dog if it's not stopped bleeding .
Please don't let anyone talk you into leaving her like that .

Minor dog bites can be treated at home but that's looks deep .
Has it been cleaned out properly?
Do you have any animal first aid stuff ?

NewYoiker · 01/04/2019 02:04

That looks really sore. Poor thing.

Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 02:08

If your dog survives this please ask an animal shelter to rehome him, you may love him but you can’t do what’s best for him and your OH is after asleep uncaring that he’s hurt

Smotheroffive · 01/04/2019 02:12

The damage inside needs checking!!

Please get this ddog some pain meds, ABs, stitches and a check up.

Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 02:14

@Smotheroffive op does not listen, only to get defensive unfortunately. Poor dog :(

Frequency · 01/04/2019 02:16

Tbh, I'm not surprised she gets defensive and I don't think a lot of the comments are helpful.

OP how is your dog now? Are you any closer to getting vet care or do you need first aid advice?

Boredgiraffes · 01/04/2019 02:23

@Frequency if you were bit and bleeding from the head would you not hope people encouraged medical attention for your rather than to leave it until tomorrow?
