Going to the toilet

Bit of a random one this.....

So I noticed I kept going through wet wipes like no tomorrow, I'd be buying a new pack every 2/3 days which didn't seem right asked my partner if he knew what was happening to them and he said he's been using them to wipe when he goes to the toilet ...ie a poo....

Who in the fuck does that..use toilet paper you're going to block the toilet you little prick

OP posts:
RoseOfSharyn · 15/03/2019 10:43

Moist toilet roll wipes are your friend. Same job but safe to flush.

Ragh · 15/03/2019 10:45

Don't flush moist toilet paper! The packaging lies.

azulmariposa · 15/03/2019 10:46

I have IBD and can poo up to 20 times a day - hurts after a while to wipe with dry paper! Flushable wipes are what you need.

Heartofglass12345 · 15/03/2019 10:50

Flushable wipes lie, they can still block the pipes further down. Invest in some nappy sacks and bin them!

adaline · 15/03/2019 10:51

Nothing wrong with him using them so long as they're disposed of properly.

As an aside to PP's, flushable wipes aren't really flushable - please don't put them down the toilet!

sar302 · 15/03/2019 11:08

I actually saw this on a program - they tested the disintegration of toilet roll, Andrex moist toilet tissue, and a generic brand moist toilet tissue.

Basically toilet roll dissolves the fastest, andrex is right behind it, and the generic cheap brands just don't disintegrate at all.

Maybe it was sponsored by andrex 🤔 but basically, if he needs the moist tissues, use andrex. And obviously definitely not baby wipes / generic wet wipes.

femidom12 · 15/03/2019 11:13

You sound like you have anger issues.

madcatladyforever · 15/03/2019 11:19

It's no joke wet wipes are a major cause of those disgusting fatbergs in the sewers

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/enormous-fatberg-length-two-buses-4571824

Also the reason why the soil pipe in my garden burst leaving a mass of sewage covering my beautiful garden where other pricks up the hill in my close were also flushing wetwipes causing a massive blockage. It was many months before I could go outside without retching.

SciFiScream · 15/03/2019 11:27

Foaming wash and toilet paper will give the same results as moist tp.

With the added benefit of being properly flushable, cheaper and a bit more environmentally friendly.

If anyone want to test their moist tp get two jam jars. Fill both with water put a piece of moist tp in one and ordinary tp in the other. One will disintegrate, the other won't.

I keep an old washing up liquid bottle with water in by the loo. Instant wet wipes - just squirt some on the loo paper.

CabbageHippy · 15/03/2019 11:33

@femidom12 - I had that exact same thought

the 'you little prick' comment seems a little excessive

and I love a wet wipe - tested some of my toilet paper recently though in water (my mum has a septic tank) & that also does not dissolve by the way

CabbageHippy · 15/03/2019 11:37

another option that we're installing when we have the bathroom done is to install a bum gun (sorry I don't know it's correct term but a hose next to your toilet for a space saving rinse)

I believe they are quite easy & inexpensive to install

SoupDragon · 15/03/2019 11:37

I've seen them testing assorted wipes with the "shake in a bottle of water" test and only one "flushable" wipe dissolved like toilet paper. This was in the last week or so and it was a brand new product.

OP, make your DP pay when the drains need clearing. We had this when DS was small and he decided to use them instead of paper.

TheQueef · 15/03/2019 11:38

But this from any ethnic shop.
Lovely warm wash.

I don't do this but know MANY who do.

nometal · 15/03/2019 12:20

Anyone who thinks it's OK to flush wet wipes down the loo should read this...

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/11/13/wet-wipes-sold-flushable-responsible-93-percent-blockages-uk/

And this...

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46188354

"All wet wipes sold as "flushable" in the UK have so far failed the water industry's disintegration tests, the BBC has found.
Water companies say wet wipes don't break down and are causing blockages which cost millions to put right."

SoupDragon · 15/03/2019 12:56

"All wet wipes sold as "flushable" in the UK have so far failed the water industry's disintegration tests, the BBC has found.

As I said earlier, there was a program (maybe a segment on the One Show? I think in Hastings) where they were clearing a fat berg and th water company did the "wet wipe" thing and said that there was this one new brand that was genuinely flushable but that it was the only one and no other one passed the test.

Walkacrossthesand · 15/03/2019 13:02

If the water companies ever endorse a wet wipe as flushable, I'll believe it. Currently 'flushable' just means 'will physically disappear down the loo' and is a claim made by the people who want you to buy the wipes, not the people who have to clear the drains.

babysharkah · 15/03/2019 13:04

Really? None of the wipes are flushable anyway.

Moanymoaner123 · 15/03/2019 13:06

My ex did this, drove me absolutely bonkers, especially when DD produced a poonami and he'd left two wipes after his morning shit. So ignorant and selfish. I have IBS and have managed to cope without wet wipes of any kind, good quality quilted loo roll is what's needed.

SoupDragon · 15/03/2019 13:09

Found the brand I must have see ges day

The organic brand Natracare is launching what it claims to be Europe’s first truly flushable moist tissue wipe and the first to carry a new symbol drawn up by Water UK, which represents water and sewerage companies in Britain.

SoupDragon · 15/03/2019 13:09

No idea what autocorrect is up to. That is the brand I must have seen on the TV segment.

Milomonster · 15/03/2019 13:56

@TheQueef - yep. Environmentally friendly and you feel v clean after a trip to the loo. I never understood why the lota never caught on. I could not bear to be on a period without a lota.
