Would you consider dating a man this height?

A man who is 5,5". I'm quite small myself in 5,2". I mean I'm not shallow and it depends ultimately if they are a nice person but I just feel I had a niggle above someone being that short. I'm OLD and most of the decent men I've come across as shorter than the average height.
I'm preparing to be flamed but that's how I feel.

Tom hardy AND Paul newman are 5 ft 9! Not short at all!

And as for that pic of Tom getting the CBE from Charlie boy - Charles is ONE INCH taller. He looks 6" taller coz he is on a step PMSL!

Look at all the pics FGS! Pic 1, Charles look 6" taller, but pic 2 shows they are virtually the same height and Charles is elevated!

To say 'I really liked Tom Hardy, and though he was fit and lovely and amazing, but now I find out he is 2-3" shorter than I thought he can fuck off,' is just laughable, ludicrous, and pathetic. You can bet anyone who says this is single a LOT, and very high maintenance.

hen, I'm 5'8'' and he's 5'6''. We have still managed to produce 3 offspring - despite our obvious difficulties.

Ooh same here out

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 05/12/2018 16:09

'm presuming that those who've never had mechanical issues have also never tried to have sex standing up

Im reading the thread backwards

Ermmmm, never had issues and have had sex when younger standing up...not so much now, I prefer a comfy bed

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 05/12/2018 16:11

I dont mind being taller than him

I do mind being fatter

RudolfIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/12/2018 16:12

If he clever, kind and funny, then yes, and I'm 5'8.

The first three are my must-haves, everything else is garnish.

MilkyCuppa · 05/12/2018 16:14

I tend to be attracted to taller men. I prefer 6ft plus. But I wouldn’t rule out a shorter man if he was attractive and a good catch. Tom Cruise and Zac Efron are both gorgeous.

WinterfellWench · 05/12/2018 16:15

My post should obviously say.

Personally, I've never had the slightest problem dating women taller then me. Height is of no concern at all.

Wouldn't look twice at a woman who weighed more than me though.

Ultimately, it's all personal preference, I don't think anyone can control who they are attracted to.

Unobtainable · 05/12/2018 16:32

If I was your height then yes I would as he’s several inches taller than you.

At my height, 5 foot six and a half, no I wouldnt as I like wearing heels and like a man to be taller than me. The smallest Ive dated was 5’8” and I felt enormous next to him. Ive also dated someone who was 6 feet 5 and at times it felt like scaling a mountain!

I suppose it depends on how he feels about his height. Is ge confident?

unique1986 · 05/12/2018 16:33

Yes if they are good looking.

sparklesaremyfavourite · 05/12/2018 16:41

Prince (5'2"), Bruno Mars (5'4/5")... Even Tim Cruise is quite limited in height (5'7")...

Plus everyone is the same height lying down. Wink

ravenmum · 05/12/2018 16:42

My daughter is 5'11 and has found it limits the number of potential partners, as in her experience, most men do not want to go out with women who are a couple of inches taller than them.

sparklesaremyfavourite · 05/12/2018 16:43

*Tom, I meant. (I must've been thinking of Tiny Tim there, sorry.)

Amazona24 · 05/12/2018 16:56

5,9" wouldn't be an issue for me. I'm not asking for 6ft plus. But if I were to wear my 3 inch heels I'd be 5,6" and taller than him at 5,5". Just find that odd!

I’m 5”10 and DH is 5”8, my height is mostly in my legs, so no mechanical issues so to speak. DH used to love it when I wore heels, he said it made him feel like a Rod Stewart!

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to walk in six years. So now I am the shorter one due to wheelchair height. DH is still my gorgeous, sexy, funny and amazing soulmate! Height is nothing, it’s what’s inside that counts, my dh is the most amazing husband and father to our dc!

I found that most tall men, like my two brothers, seem to gravitate towards shorter partners. My youngest brother has finally settled on a tall girl after the last four being tiny next to his 6”4 frame!

Racecardriver · 05/12/2018 17:05

@kittylikesmagic Shock I had no idea!

Fantastiqueangel · 05/12/2018 17:05

I find shorter men much more attractive in general but if I met a taller man who ticked every other box, I expect I would give things go. No reason it doesn't work the same way if in general you prefer a taller man.

craftinglife · 05/12/2018 17:06

If I was shorter than yes but not if I was the same height or taller

NotUmbongoUnchained · 05/12/2018 17:07

Having preferences doesn’t make you shallow. We’re not obliged to just shag anything just so we don’t offend anyone’s feelings.

aoeu · 05/12/2018 17:19

@KittyLikesMagic the national average woman's height is 5ft3 and a half, 5ft2 is not extremely short!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_average_human_height_worldwide

"Extremely short" is a bit harsh, but you've misread that table. Even the rows for 16+ (i.e. including some children) don't go quite as low as 5 ft 3. The rows for UK fully grown adults are 5 ft 5 or 5 ft 4 1⁄2.

SlightlyMisplacedSingleDad · 05/12/2018 18:08

Definitely not. Height is, without question, the strongest possible indicator of relationship potential. 🙄

In the 80s I dated a man who was 5'2" to my 5'5". It didn't bother me, I'd wear heels when we were out and not worry about seeming even taller, I really didn't think it was a problem that he was shorter than me.

He felt differently, though, and dumped me for my 4'11" friend :-(

Ruddle91 · 05/12/2018 18:26

I'm 5ft8 and wouldn't rule him out purely based on height.

My DH is 6ft4 and tbf I'd rather he was closer to my height for "mechanical reasons"

Elfinablender · 05/12/2018 18:28

That whole piece makes no sense to me. Wtf is 'right swiped'?
