My ex has completely blanked me for the last 4 days...

We split up about 3 weeks ago, I moved out of his and into a place I bought. We were having really bad problems because basically he's an addict.

I had to move myself in one day, with no help so left various stuff at his, most of which he returned but my tortoise is still there and he owes me £600. Anyway we had a major disagreement on Thursday night, about him prioritising drugs (again) over bringing me something. He lied to me saying he couldn't come over that night because he had a bad back but basically he's been phoning in sick at work on gone on a massive binge I think, because he got a loan on Wednesday.

I haven't heard anything from him since Thursday night. I've sent two messages and just tried to ring him and he's blanking me. I need to get my tortoise back and I also want him to pay me at least some of the money he owes me. What the fuck do I do? He's broken me. I am the one being blanked and ignored but I haven't done anything to him. I feel totally lost and stuck.

Your ex sounds like a complete arse and you are well rid.

I hope the tortoise was ok. I believe the RSPCA can get the police to force entry if there is a concern about an animals welfare, in case you haven’t been able to collect him.

Is he a hibernating species?

My Dp's tortoise isn't, but if you weren't paying attention (because you were high) you could easily think he was "dead" if his lamp wasn't on so he was very still. And he can go days without eating too if all he is offered is normal tortoise food rather than fancy greens etc.

Hope he is okay!!

Hidinginthebath · 10/12/2018 12:07

He didn't answer me until 8pm last night. I'm going round tonight. I dreamt about dead animals all night Sad I'm praying he's okay,

Not mentioned anything to DD yet. I can't believe anyone can stop so low. He's thrown away the chance of family life (which he said he really enjoyed, as he had no DC's of his own), neglected an animal and thrown away my love, for drugs.

Why would you do this? Why would you destroy things? I've been holding it together for a month but I've crashed today. Poor DD and poor tortoise.

www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/your-pets-and-the-law.html

Reading this your pet is your property and he’s commiting an offence by not allowing you to collect it.

You could call the RSPCA or 101 for advice OP.

PenrodPooch · 10/12/2018 21:25

Did you manage to get him op? How's your daughter

LuluBellaBlue · 10/12/2018 21:54

Any news on the tortoise?

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 10/12/2018 21:56

Really hoping tortoise is ok

SilverDoe · 10/12/2018 22:03

Awh how horrid :(

As everyone else is, I’m really hoping that you can get your tortoise back and finally start to leave this deadbeat loser behind you. What a shit thing for you and your DD to be going through just before Christmas :(

ginpink · 10/12/2018 22:06

I hope the tortoise is ok? Xx

ohwownosnow · 10/12/2018 22:06

Is the tortoise ok? My Nan had a tortoise - she thought he had died so buried him. My grandad went ape Sad

Starlight456 · 10/12/2018 22:07

I hope you got him.

Is he ok?

Wellrid of ex

MyKingdomForBrie · 10/12/2018 22:11

You really need to go round there immediately with back up and force him to let you in, sounds like the tortoise may need urgent care.

fadehead · 10/12/2018 22:12

Any news?

AnotherEmma · 10/12/2018 22:15

Why didn't you take the tortoise when you left?

If you have a DD why were you living with an addict in the first place?

Emul · 11/12/2018 12:34

Any update on the tortoise, OP? I hope he's ok. Flowers

SilverDoe · 11/12/2018 12:55

AnotherEmma addicts don’t usually disclose addiction or make this obvious, they’re often secretive and go to some lengths to hide or minimise additiction.

AnotherEmma · 11/12/2018 12:56

No shit Sherlock

talk about stating the obvious, it's okay, WE KNOW Hmm

Hidinginthebath · 11/12/2018 20:12

He's definitely dead Sad

It has been a complete saga but he dropped him off tonight. DD still doesn't know as she is at her dads.

And as for living with an addict, he wasn't an addict when I got with him. It seems being in a relationship with me turns people into a violent bastard (EXH) or become addicted to cannabis and cocaine. Thanks for making me feel so much better though AnotherEmma

And the reason I had to leave my tortoise is I had to get myself and DC out in a rush, by myself, when I found out about the cocaine use. I can't reveal too much but we were in danger and unfortunately the tortoise in his tank was too big for me to carry. Flowers for your helpfulness though.

Sorry about the tortoise and my unhelpful comments. Well done for getting out.

I suggest the Freedom Programme to help you heal and spot the warning signs.

I'm so sorry. It's so sad that your pet died while in his possesion instead of him letting you get it to take good care of. You must feel awful about it. At least you're rid of the twat.

BumbleBeee69 · 11/12/2018 20:44

I'm sorry to hear this news OP.
