Found a long hair...

No reasonable explanation I can think of. It was on a blanket we keep in the lounge for snuggling under. I'm the only ones that uses it. DH sits in shorts while I snuggle under a blanket and that is our compromise on the constant difference between our body temperatures.

I have short cropped hair. Slightly layered. Have had this style for 8 years. We don't really have people over to our house and these blankets are been washed within the last 3 weeks. The only other people here in that time is MIL and FIL. MIL has very short hair too. I've attached a pic. First 2 hairs are my long and short layers. 3 hair is very obviously different. WTF do I do? Just ignore? No other reason to suspect foul play by DH.

Not sure about how a random hair could have transferred when out shopping. How close do you have to be to shed on to someone else?

hairs can transfer really really easily

QforCucumber · 19/10/2018 16:24

so so easily could be anything, Mil has white blond hair and if she is ever a passenger in our car, or comes over, I'm finding hairs for weeks!

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/10/2018 16:25

I'm a shedder. It gets everywhere. I flick my hair and a mattressful flies through the air attaching to everyone. The reason I know is that DH, and friends go "FFS Terry, keep your hair to yourself. Yuk. It got in my mouth. Bleaugh".

TheVanguardSix · 19/10/2018 16:28

It’s how I found out abound ex’s affair: A couple of long blonde hairs in the bed. I know some posters are like Hmm ‘Seriously?’ but the cliche can live up to its reality. Any other alarm bells?

hellsbellsmelons · 19/10/2018 16:29

I'm a very untrusting person but this wouldn't even register to be honest.
Could have come from anywhere.
Could it be the female's hair you were referring to up post?

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 19/10/2018 16:30

Utterly batshit

SoyDora · 19/10/2018 16:31

This wouldn’t even register with me.

pudding21 · 19/10/2018 16:50

Do you have kids? Had any friends over for play dates?

i don't think this would even hit my radar, unless I had other niggles or suspicions. Is there anything at all you are suspicious about other than this hair?

namechange4000 · 19/10/2018 17:07

No other suspicions. Yes it has been a long time since I had long hair, thanks to everyone who has confirmed how easy it is to shed hair everywhere.

No it couldn't be friend up thread as she also has short hair.

Spider senses are officially stood down. Thanks everyone.

Hairs transfer incredibly easily. You could get one from a stranger without realising or a colleague. This isn’t reason alone to suspect cheating.

GreenLantern53 · 19/10/2018 17:45

I actually think you wanted to believe he was cheating as its such a bizarre thing to worry about.

namechange4000 · 19/10/2018 18:01

@GreenLantern53
Isn't it a little presumptuous to never in a million years think your DH might cheat?

I don't take our relationship for granted, just like I don't take my employment for granted, or that we might fall on bad times financially. I don't take my health for granted or that I will live forever. I pay life insurance for a bloody good reason.

I can't imagine living in blissful ignorance of the very real possibilities that life can throw at us.

Assuming you snuggle on the sofa then I'd have to consider two things; firstly, there's no limit to what you can find down the cracks and crevices of a sofa, even one cleaned last week. Secondly it's the place where often everyone dumps their crap after/before walking through the door making it very easy to transfer any amount of surface crap from bags/coats/jumpers.

The combination of the above would lead me to ignore it completely.

GreenLantern53 · 19/10/2018 18:47

but the hair is so insignificant. I would totally get you if there was more to it but to suspect cheating over one random hair? nope. I found a long blonde hair in a takeaway I ordered the other day, hair really does get everywhere.

YellowStickies · 19/10/2018 19:03

I found a long, curly ginger hair in my oh's car last week. No other suspicions until I made a joke about it and seen his reaction.

JellieEllie · 19/10/2018 19:06

I wouldn't worry too much.
I have very long black hair and I've had my friends bfs tell me they are sick of finding my hair in their house when I haven't even been round.
Transferred through hugs with my friends, them sitting on my sofa, being in the car etc.
My partner hates how much of my hair he finds around our house too. It could be something completely innocent.

SpottingTheZebras · 19/10/2018 19:09

It could easily have transferred in the washing machine since you say it was washed within the last three weeks. I have long hair and find it everywhere!

Poster65 · 19/10/2018 22:03

OP don’t worry. I have strange coloured hair that turns up later in peoples homes and cars that I’ve never been in Grin

DishranawaywiththeSpoon · 19/10/2018 22:19

I have long blonde moulty hair that gets everywhere, I'm sure very single one of my work colleagues has found them in their house despite me never being there! DP said he was finding them in his house when I hadn't been there for 3 weeks, lots of my male friends parents thought I was their girlfriend because my hairs were all over their stuff as a teen. I wouldn't worry, some hair just gets everywhere, means nothing

DiveBombingSeagull · 19/10/2018 22:55

OH lives 40 miles away, I visit his house maybe once every couple of months, whereas he is here several times a week. He says his house is full of my hairs that have transferred onto him and then fallen off at his house.

batshitbetty · 19/10/2018 23:04

If it helps, I have brought home hairs from my very blonde long haired colleague on my clothes - she sits 4 desks away and we have never done anything my boyfriend should concerned about 😂

batshitbetty · 19/10/2018 23:05

@DishranawaywiththeSpoon maybe you are my colleague 😂

Eastie77 · 19/10/2018 23:19

This reminds me of a recent thread where the OP found a phone charger she didn't recognise and thought the worst about her DH. Unlike the sensible responses here the replies on that thread were insane.."sorry OP this doesn't look good"; "there can't be an innocent explanation" etc

Turned out it was a charger for his games console or something.
