Does anyone find it hard to call their DH/DP by their name?
I've been with DP for 6 years but from very early on we have referred to each other by pet names (urgh, hate that expression)not to other people you understand, cos that would just be !
We dont have a problem with it, its just a strange quirk that we share! but it can be embarassing if i slip and call him it in public (its not really a socially acceptable thing to call someone).
What i do find odd is that i almost physically cant call him by his actual name, it feels very wierd when we're in company and i have to say it, its bizarre.

I am quite good at calling DH by his name - I work with him and so have to use it quite a lot! - tho we do have pet names. But I'm not v fond of my own first name and really cringe when he calls me it!

This kind of thing would never come across well in type.
You would really only appreciate it in person, so you could understand the dry humour, sophistication and the aplomb with which it is delivered.

This is so entertaining. After I read it last night and shyly asked DH if he remembered when we didn't use each other's names. He did, but was watching Gordon Ramsey at the time so the moment passed for us to have a searching and loving conversation about what that might have meant and how lovely it was that we didn't do it now (a la Suzywong). Instead he just said 'yeah, weird wasn't it. Babe.'

I am embarrassed to say that he has also called me 'mummy' on occassions, but quickly got the gist of my glares. It makes my skin crawl.

Personally I favour "dicksplat"
