Does your dh put an x at end of messages to male friends?

I noticed a message pop up on my dh's phone last week and it was from his male friend. Friend put an x at the end of his message. I was surprised but said nothing to dh.

Now I've just received a text from my dh about arrangements with friend. It was sent to me in error. Of course there was an x at the end of it. Dh then sent me a text to say oops sent to you by mistake.

Is this normal guys?

No. It would be v. odd.

pilates · 08/08/2018 22:38

No

crispysausagerolls · 08/08/2018 22:38

I don’t want to sound mental but are you sure it’s not a woman’s number saved in his phone as a male friend? Especially if he’s a “new” friend? Seen it happen before

NonaGrey · 08/08/2018 22:40

No but then he doesn’t end texts to me with an x either. Grin

Doghorsechicken · 08/08/2018 22:43

Yep my DH does to his friends, think it started as a joke & now it’s normal!

Usernumbers1234 · 08/08/2018 22:43

How old is he?

30-35 plus then no. However 20-30 year olds seem to do it, I’ve seen at least a dozen of my younger brothers friends do it on texts, not sure if it’s an ironic thing but yeah it happens and they aren’t in relatiOnships with each other.

NataliaOsipova · 08/08/2018 22:43

No! Absolutely not!

LizzieSiddal · 08/08/2018 22:44

Yes my Dh does to friends and some colleagues both make and female.
They do work in the Arts though so they are quite a huggy/kissy lot!

topcat2014 · 08/08/2018 22:44

I only put 'x's on texts to DD, but then I don't tend to text friends anyway.

LizzieSiddal · 08/08/2018 22:44

My Dh is early 50s

Aroundtheworldandback · 08/08/2018 22:49

My dh puts an x after messages to all friends. Loves them! So what?

Alibongo0001 · 08/08/2018 22:54

My dh does,

Redteapot67 · 08/08/2018 22:55

He’s having affair and he’s saved the ow’s number as a male name on his phone - that would be my thought

I’d ‘accidentally’ ring this number from a withheld number and see if a male or female voice answered then Hangup

haribosmarties · 08/08/2018 22:58

some people do this and some dont. Women do it more often than men yes but I have male friends who put an X at the end of any text they send to any friend.
My husband doesnt put X on the end of texts ever to anyone but I put them to everyone (unless its formal, i dont really know them, or im pissed off) of any gender.
My ex used to put a X on the end of any text he sent to any close friend male or female.

Shoxfordian · 09/08/2018 07:24

My boyfriend doesn't usually put x unless it's to me then its xx

I don't think you need to make this into an issue though op

user1486956786 · 09/08/2018 07:27

Prank call the number to re confirm it's definitely who he says it is and then you have complete peace of mind.

FuckPants · 09/08/2018 07:45

Very occasionally my DH and certain (as in best mates do).

OohOohMrPeevly · 09/08/2018 07:45

I think he is just being polite as his friend puts an x. I don't usually put an x on messages to people unless they do it to me and then once they've done it I always reply in kind so as not to make them feel bad.

Scribblegirl · 09/08/2018 07:47

My DH does, one of those jokey things that’s stuck. They often send things like ‘Alright gorgeous??x’ to each other. But then they are very lovely, albeit camp, heterosexual men Grin

soundsystem · 09/08/2018 07:54

Yep. Most people I know put an x on the end of text messages, including DH. To male friends, female friends, colleagues...

User1011 · 09/08/2018 08:44

They are just making fun of things girls do, the same as when they say “you ok hun?” to other male friends.

You could ring the number if you are paranoid worried.

shinyredbus · 09/08/2018 09:03

my husband doesnt - but one of his brothers signs off with a X at the end of everything.
