I'm 57 and single and for the last few months - following some advise from younger colleagues, I have been on Bumble. I met a guy (60) and we have met up four times now. We have got on really well - although I don't see a lot of him. He revealed to me recently that he has been dating other women - as a sugar daddy. As I see it, paying for sex. I find the whole thing a bit sordid.

He's now sent me a couple of articles on open relationships. My interpretation is, he likes the 'grown up' normal things we have done together but wants to keep the exciting sex - predominantly with younger girls.

This is really not good news is it? It feels really wrong.

What I never quite understand is why they aren't ashamed and embarrassed.

I mean, knowing someone is only tolerating you because you are paying for their company, not because they actually like or care for you in any genuine or meaningful way. It's really pathetic.

Gross, run away fast

Exactly. How embarrassing.

Tell him that's absolutely fine as long as you will be likewise having sex with young men from milf/gilf hook up sites.

You're happy to have dinner/go on breaks etc with him but you'd rather not have a sexual relationship CV with him as wrinkly, paunchy, Viagra'd older men could not possibly compete with hard bodied, able to go multiple rounds naturally young men. You'll also be giving gifts to young handsome men in Turkey, Jamaica etc in exchange for fun and sex.

I'm sure he'll be 100% ok with that, cause men like this always have completely unchauvinistic equal views and rules for women as for themselves.

merville · 08/08/2018 20:49

The only good thing that can be said is, as others have mentioned, at least he's been honest, which is sadly better than most.

Thank you Melville you’ve made me giggle - and have given me ideas. Smile

I'll try and reserve judgement on whether or not the "sugar lifestyle" is bad. But you consider it bad, and your opinion is the one that matters here. If he had put this behind him, maybe you would want to give him a chance. But its apparent he hasn't put it behind him, and indeed wants to have a sugar babe on the side at the same time as he's seeing you. So you two aren't compatible.

SoapOnARoap · 09/08/2018 07:14

*He just wants what he wants, and there's nothing wrong with that. And you want what you want.

You're incompatible, that's all*

This exactly. He’s been upfront about it, just decline & move on
