If DH pins me to the seat

Thumb on my throat and rest of hand on my shoulder pushing me down to get square in my face to tell me to stop swearing in front of the kids, is it justified? We had an argument because He didn't want to talk about something that happened today because he has friends coming over. That annoyed me so I started calling him names and He held me down with kids watching because I swore at him in front of toddler/baby. he then broke my phone by throwing it at the wall which kids saw.

I'm not surprised he's laid his hands on me like that, almost expected it but there's no history of DV. I'm Not shaken up by the incident, back to being civil. Is this normal?

He will say I made him pin me to the seat because I wouldn't stop so is it actually my fault I pissed him off? He will justify his actions tomorrow, that much I'm sure of. He also won't feel any regret at what he's done. He didn't seem like it affected him. Just don't know what to think of the situation.

You need to make firm plans to leave.

Don't waste any more of your life trying to play at being a family or a couple here.

You are clearly tied up in a cycle of abuse, and your children need to be protected. They may not look or sound much different after today's incident, but witnessing violence in the home has a devastating effect. It changes their lives completely. It changes who they are. The foundations of their little world are destroyed.

Brave out the response of your family and his. Let his family think and say whatever they want. You know the truth and that is all that matters.

Strangulation is always a serious sign of the potential for worse violence.

It is a huge red flag.

How badly do you want your DC's damaged?
Think on OP.
He strangulated you because you were swearing at him about something that pissed you off earlier.
Poor DC's.

The Kids must get really scared

This is the thing. We all know how hard it to split up from someone, OP, but you will do your children irreparable harm if you stay. My dgd was only two months old when her father attacked my dd. She kicked him out but the baby still cried like she was angry for another two weeks.

I can just imagine how her behaviour and even her character would have been if they had stayed together. As it is she is a happy and very easy-going five-year-old.
