Grovel Time - I need to show darling wife how much I appreciate her

swanseadaddy · 15/05/2007 15:24

10 weeks ago I had my ankle broken and had to spend 4 weeks in bed, my gorgeous wife has looked after me amd our 2 little uns, 40mths and 20 mths all by herself. To add to this already mammoth task we moved to a new house last week and she did half the packing and all the cleaning, she was brilliant.

what did I do, well I acted like 99% of all men, moaned about not being able to help, things not getting done and was generally a pain in the arse.

I have finally seen the error of my ways, how can I show her how much I love her and appreciate everything she has done, i really want to spoil her but cant take any of the jobs off her as i am still in plaster and will be for another 6 months,so what else can i do

ie get a cleaner 2/3 days a week,
send ironing to be done professionally
massages
choclates
etc

please help me come up with things a women would appreciate and not what a miserable git of a bloke would think of.

How about treating her and a friend or relative (mum/sister) to a pamper session at a day spa?
The offer of a cleaner and sending the ironing out sounds like a good offer too, more free time for you to do something toegether, go out for a nice meal or to the pictures.

saralou100 · 15/05/2007 15:43

yup, all of that!!!

flowers

jewellry

takeaway, if your plaster makes it hard to get out

hannahsaunt · 15/05/2007 15:44

The one-offs (massage, spa etc) are lovely but the sheer joy of x weeks where there was a cleaner and/or ironer doing the stuff that takes so much time & effort and is so, so, so dull would be just heavenly, IMHO. Good for you thinking along these lines!

If you do go down the cleaner etc route then make she spends some of that 'saved' time drinking tea and going to the library by herself.

thehairybabysmum · 15/05/2007 15:52

cleaner or ironing, or both sounds useful.

Diamonds are a lovely low calorie prezzie too!!!

swanseadaddy · 15/05/2007 16:32

thanks for the help so far, money is not too much a problem as i just got a lucky break and got paid an extra £4,000 today, £3,000 of which is going on new bedroom furniture and i plan to spend the extra £1,000 spoiling DW.

The ankle was broken by surgeons so they could fuse ankle foot and leg in one.

although I normally do all ironing(something i dont mind doing) its not too easy at the moment.

finally whilst many of you have said nice things about me, trust me its my beautiful wife who deserves all the plaudits, i really need to see how good my life is and not moan or be unappreciative of such a fantastic person.

i've put this post on this thread as well as it's been reading these threads that i've come to realise how selfish i have become and how much i need to change.

One thing you can do as well as the other stuff, that a lot of women would appreciate and doesnt cost any money is to write her a really long letter about why you love her, how much you appreciate her, how you know you've been an arse and are going to change etc etc.

saralou100 · 15/05/2007 17:03

oh yes and just saying it goes down quite well too

allgonebellyup · 15/05/2007 17:28

cunnilingus

NoodleStroodle · 15/05/2007 17:37

Also could you manage from myour sick bed to arrange some childcare with friends/family so she can have some time off just to mooch around the shops, go for her hair cut etc. If you arrange babysitting it will mean so much more...

allgonebellyup · 15/05/2007 17:37

still think you should just go down on her.

NoodleStroodle · 15/05/2007 17:38

might be dodgy with a leg in plaster

allgonebellyup · 15/05/2007 17:39

all the more exciting for her, looks like he's having to make more effort.

mosschops30 · 15/05/2007 17:42

Is this a parallel thread? swanseadaddy must be loving all the attention

so you gonna tell me what you do for a job, or at least give me the sport

(dont be scared we never had an affair or anything lol you were my supervisor, if its you that is)

Pinkcherub · 15/05/2007 19:56

Get flowers delivered to her, there are some really nice florists in Swansea or if you get the chance, try and get out for a romantic meal down the mumbles overlooking the bay.

Know Swansea, was born there.

smalltowngirl · 15/05/2007 21:09

If you did all the ironing anyway, then its hardly a luxury now to get an ironing lady. You should perhaps do that anyway.

swanseadaddy · 15/05/2007 21:18

hey mosschops30, dont think i know you, i work in business recruitment in financial services which luckily I do from home, whilst the sex acts are a great idea, i just want to find as many ways as i can to show her how sorry i am for being a dickhead for the last 3 months

Order dinner for two in from a really good restraunt ( Not Indian or Chinese) and set the table with candles. Tell her she looks gorgeous every day

matilda57 · 15/05/2007 22:59

agree with lovemygirls - a letter. Words mean a lot to women (well, this woman anyway LOL). Blokes do like to DO things to show how they feel - a woman likes to hear WORDS. It will mean the world to her swanseadaddy.

Dangerspouse · 15/05/2007 23:12

Don't do a one-off grand gesture, do something small, every day. Small bunch of flowers one day, note on her pillow telling her she's special the next, takeaway the next day etc....

Have to say though, the cleaner is a fab idea

TricityBendix · 15/05/2007 23:26

Nope. Not interested in words. Constant words of affection are good but actions are better for me. Get a bar stool for ironing on. Get a cleaner if it helps. Send her for days out. Not A Day out. Generally free her up. Ensure she sees her friends. LISTEN and ask good questions when she talks. Take an interest in her.THEN back it up by telling her you love her.

warthog · 15/05/2007 23:41

yup, what tricitybendix said.

thegardener · 16/05/2007 09:05

sounds like you have good ideas of your own, how about a fab holiday to look forward too, maybe organise something together, i'd love that!

Raggydoll · 16/05/2007 09:10

oh, you HAVE to send the ironing off - it comes back all crisp and packed in tissue or on hangers its fab and is a godsend. I would be eternelly gratefull if dh did this for me.

Raggydoll · 16/05/2007 09:13

also does she have wish list on amazon or anything - i have one and no-one ever buys me anything off it .

slimmerjim · 16/05/2007 09:32

cleaner cleaner cleaner

2 little ones can be fun, but it's more fun getting out and about with them, than trying to clean up when they're wanting attention.

free time; mother's help or aupair for a while ?
