Just that. I’m single after separating and wondering about how to meet new people. I look at couples and think I wonder how they met. So please tell all.

kizzywizz · 26/03/2018 11:16

Blind date set up by my friend who was married to his brother. 30 years married this month.

Baubletrouble43 · 26/03/2018 11:19

Online , plenty of fish.

Mariaaaaa · 26/03/2018 11:26

He's my boss. 16 year age gap and both married once before..

We initially barely spoke in work, despite sitting opposite each other - he's very senior to me; I thought he hated me. Apparently I intimidated him and he was a bit afraid of me. We bonded over putting up the office Christmas tree Blush..I thought nothing of it, two weeks later on a weekend evening he text me a photograph of his own Christmas tree asking if it was festive enough for me..I nearly had a fit seeing his name pop up on my phone; a text from the boss can never be good Hmm

Very, very happy together. I am just loving life

bakingdemon · 26/03/2018 11:27

Told all my friends that if they knew anyone nice I was open to being set up on dates. One friend set me up on a blind date with one of his friends. We got married a year later Smile

JoandMax · 26/03/2018 11:32

Met at university 18 years ago!

Orangesox · 26/03/2018 11:36

Online through an internet radio project. 13 years later we still bicker about who has the best music collection (clearly me!) Grin

cakecakecheese · 26/03/2018 12:53

He was playing poker with some people I knew, I was dressed as a Ghostbuster, one of the poker players introduced us and we hit it off straight away.

Gah81 · 26/03/2018 12:57

Networking event. He is super senior in the industry so I knew of him but had never actually met him. I wandered over to introduce myself and, 4 years later, we are getting married this year.

Allthebubbles · 26/03/2018 13:41

Met at uni but didn't get together till mid twenties. We met again at a party and the half hearted appreciation I'd always felt for him turned into something much stronger. Together for 16 yrs now.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/03/2018 13:44

Yes MyBrilliantDisguise and he still is! 😆

Bluebelle38 · 26/03/2018 13:59

Twistofanxiety · 26/03/2018 14:06

At the birthday party of the sister of someone my youth group. It was simply meant to be Smile

Shandybass · 26/03/2018 23:02

Www loving these responses. Quite varied then. I was expecting more work based. There’s a fair fee on line successes then. None from club activity type things. Friends and family feature quite high.
Keep them coming please. It’saling me feel there’s hope and some positivity post separating.

At work

DeepestBlues · 26/03/2018 23:11

Online... I bought him on eBay Smile

DappledThings · 26/03/2018 23:11

On a night out. We have a lot of mutial friends and one of them used to do a band night once every few weeks at a local venue.

That was 9 and a bit years ago. We worked out that we could have met a good few times before having been at the same gigs, cricket matches, house parties and other instances of the band night we finally met at. But it happened at the right time!

At primary school, same class, same comprehensive school, got together at college disco, I was at college he was apprentice, married 28 years, been together 35 years, 3 adult children, now currently 2 dogs

MinceAndTatties · 27/03/2018 02:29

I was living (unhappily) with Someone Else. We had a party early in 1993 in our flat, and it happened like I never thought it would. Someone new in our group arrived and within five minutes I knew this was the person I wanted to spend my life with. We got together in 1996, married in 1998, and separated in 2013. Both at fault but I blame myself more when I think about it.

It doesn't help you, OP, other than as a reminder to be awake, be alert, and be mindful. We don't get too many chances at this.

Good luck :)

Pootlebug · 27/03/2018 02:36

Running club party, 16 months ago.

Khaleesi0 · 27/03/2018 02:44

I'm single now...

My last boyfriend I met at a bus stop - only spoke to him cos he was wearing an AC/DC hoodie! 😂

NotTheFordType · 27/03/2018 03:23

Hmm. That doesn't sound at all like your lazily journalism post.

Anyway, met current casual FB as a sex work client
Partner prior to that was via a swinging site
Late husband was met via a shared interest online site.

PrimalLady · 27/03/2018 11:14

His abusive ex forced me into a situation where I would meet him. Because she often enlisted friends to help her and I think it was because of people I know. She thought she'd be able to use it as some sort of threat.

Backfired on her didn't it.

Honestly it's the weirdest way I've ever met anyone and was a massive head fuck. But we are both stronger and better for it.

StormcloakNord · 27/03/2018 11:19

POF! He was my last attempt at messaging someone and it worked out. Half a year later we're away to buy a house together with lots of plans for the future.

MrsDilber · 27/03/2018 11:31

In a pub when I was 15 😶 what was my mother and thinking. She was/is the best mum too.
