Is your dp/dh your best friend?

juicychops · 09/03/2007 15:34

I have a few girl friends who i am close to but i consider dp to be my very best friend as well as my boyfriend

Is that normal or does not everyone think the same of their dp/dh?

My dh is most definitely my best friend. I can tell him anything, he always gives good advice when I have a problem and I enjoy his company more than anyones.

Oh oh, we'll prob. get divorced now I've said all that.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2007 15:37

No.

All my best friends have been female.

My husband is. Well, my husband.

ScoobyDooooo · 09/03/2007 15:38

Yes he is my best friend

LucyJones · 09/03/2007 15:38

well i tell him things I don't tell anyone else, but also he drives me insane like no one else does.....

Flamesparrow · 09/03/2007 15:39

He probably is my best friend - although I talk more to my others

noddyholder · 09/03/2007 15:40

yes

Twiga · 09/03/2007 15:43

Interesting question, my initial reaction would be to say yes, but our relationship is much more than that in a way that I don't think is possible to describe. He is the person I'm closest to in the world and the one person I can rely on to love me despite my flaws - it's like having a best friend but more than that too.

lazyemma · 09/03/2007 15:50

absolutely. He's the one person I feel completely at ease with. He knows me better than anyone else. Like mumblechum, there's no-one else whose company I enjoy more. I do have friends - both male and female - and I do value their company but I wouldn't confide in any of them in the same way that I trust and confide in my husband. Also he laughs at my rubbish jokes, which is essential in any successful relationship, I feel.

Twinkie1 · 09/03/2007 15:52

Absolutely wihtout a doubt.

GameGirly · 09/03/2007 15:52

Yip. He's completely fab. (Can you tell he's been away much of this week?!)

BizzyDint · 09/03/2007 15:55

yes

redshoes · 09/03/2007 16:08

yes

kslatts · 09/03/2007 16:15

Yes, without a doubt, he is the one who knows me best, I am completely relaxed with and can be 100% honest with.

serenity · 09/03/2007 16:16

yes, absolutely.

prawnsmum · 09/03/2007 16:18

yes

Flower3554 · 09/03/2007 16:25

Absolutely my very best friend. He's my (literally) other half, without him I wouldn't be who I am and vice versa. I don't know how you can be in a partnership either living with or married to if they aren't your best friend.

frenchconnection · 09/03/2007 17:05

Yes. For sure. Not to the detriment of my other excellent friends of course.

elliott · 09/03/2007 17:23

YEs, mainly because i see him so much more than my other friends!

motherinferior · 11/03/2007 11:53

Good grief, no.

I love him and all, but it's like expat says: he's my partner. It's a completely different relationship. And not just because we have sex, either.

Friendship matters a lot to me.

myturn · 11/03/2007 11:59

Exactly the same as MI. I have friends and I have a husband - two completely different things imo.

serenity · 11/03/2007 12:32

I wonder if it makes a difference what age you meet your DP/H? I've been with Dh since I was 15, longer than I've known the majority of my friends - if I'd had a 'best friend' for years before I got together with him, I might have a different answer now.

ernest · 11/03/2007 12:36

mine was until last night, when I found he is having an affair

DimpledThighs · 11/03/2007 12:39

ernest - poor you - have you written about this anywhere else? are you getting support?
