No. But I don't send one to DH either.

wotzsaname · 05/02/2007 19:44

Typed envelope, good idea. My dds are getting suspicious.

Especially as dd2 has just found out im the tooth fairy!

"Do you come into my room in a tutu?' the cheeky monkey asked.

My dad sent me one once, a beautiful picture of galloping horses. I caught him out when I mentioned that whoever sent it hadn't noticed that the inscription was "to the man I love", and he apologised! (I'd guessed it was him already though.)

wotzsaname · 05/02/2007 20:04

Annie what a lovely thoughtful dad, and how great you can remember the horses.

dingdongjustforyoufg · 05/02/2007 20:09

kimi · 05/02/2007 20:10

YES YES YES and they get chocolate hearts too.

popsycal · 05/02/2007 20:13

definitely not but dh's mum sends them to the boys and it does my head in

mistressmiggins · 05/02/2007 20:38

no I never will

my mum never sent me them either but I know friends' mums did

whats the point?

personally (but not in the mood for a fight) I think its better to ignore rather than send one to your children - I never felt sad when I didnt get one & think I would have felt worse if my mum had sent one

as teenagers, we know who has a boyfriend/girlfriend etc so know its a fake card

wotzsaname · 05/02/2007 20:38

Because its fun for them to get a card.

HuwEdwards · 05/02/2007 20:41

What?

Are you mad?

No...it's commercial crap, shops are taking you for a ride...trying to squeeze yet more money out of you after Xmas but before Easter.

DO NOT GIVE IN!!!!

ScummyMummy · 05/02/2007 20:42

yes. My mum always sent me one. She made my dad write in it left handed. So it feels like carrying on a nice tradition. And there are different kinds of love, aren't there? I'm not trying to pretend to my kids that someone fanicies them. Just saying "Oi. We love you" in card form.

Eowyn · 05/02/2007 20:48

It isn't something that occurred to me until one year we were talking about it & dd looked up with big sad eyes & said "what about me.." or somesuch. So I usually make her one (at the last minute as I forget).

Asked her if she was sending any this year (in jest) & she said, yes, mummy, daddy, her teacher & her best friend. So i don't think she fully understands the concept but it's all quite sweet.

RosaLuxembourg · 05/02/2007 20:50

I never have but I think I might this year. I will make them myself though just like I plan to make DH's myself. And they might just get a chocolate heart too.

ProfYaffle · 05/02/2007 20:54

No. My Mum used to send them to me and I found it horribly embarrassing. She's now started sending them to dd which I thought was odd but the card had 'Happy Valentines Granddaughter' printed on it so I guess it's more common than I thought.

Caligula · 05/02/2007 21:01

Yes.

I usually make them one. They love it. (But they are 7 and 4, I think they probably won't want them when they're teenagers.)

mousiemousie · 05/02/2007 21:06

Dp sends one to dd - my dad used to send me one!

We all give each other little heart themed gifts and cocolate (any excuse for pressies in my house!)

Lullabyloo · 05/02/2007 21:12

not an anonymous one
but one from dh & I to say we love him
then nobody is left out.

Tootiepegs · 05/02/2007 21:21

My mum sends me a Valentine every year and has done for as long as I can remember....and I'm now in my 30's!!!

Bananaknickers · 05/02/2007 21:54

I do

foxtrot · 05/02/2007 21:55

No, what a strange idea
