Not sure where to put this so il put it here.
3 months ago I bought tickets for me and a friend to go see strictly come dancing and spent £140 on tickets.
I bought her the ticket and have been excited to go tonight.
Literally 5 minutes ago she's text saying "sorry not coming tonight, can't be bothered, not really my thing.
Why tell me after I've spent £140 and why leave it till the day of the concert.
It's too short notice for any of other friends to get babysitter as we need to leave at 5pm.
Luckily my dad who is 70 today said he will come with me otherwise I would of had to go alone.
I rang my friend and she didn't care ..basically said well I don't want to go,what do you want me to do.
I'm angry :-(

Surely she would have told you before you booked that it wasn't her thing?? What a nuisance. Make sure she reimburses you!!!

ImperialBlether · 03/02/2016 14:40

She doesn't sound a good friend at all. I wouldn't be mixing with her again.

Did she know you were buying the tickets before you got them?

BareBearBum · 03/02/2016 14:41

Odd!
How did it come about originally? You asked and she said yes?

I have a friend who mentioned she had tickets to a gig of someone I don't remotely want to see, she asked if I wanted to go, I said 'no' - not hard!

She wasn't offended in the slightest as she can invite someone who does want to go!

Gobbolino6 · 03/02/2016 14:42

Did you ask her before you booked the tickets?

She's behaved absolutely appallingly either way, but I wonder if she never wanted to go and wasn't sure how to say?

cuntycowfacemonkey · 03/02/2016 14:45

Well she's not much of a friend is she? What was her response when you originally bought the tickets

Only1scoop · 03/02/2016 14:47

Did she agree to go?

Had you paid for her?

Glad your dad is going with you nice for his birthday.

goddessofsmallthings · 03/02/2016 14:48

I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself much more with your df than with a friend who doesn't want be there. Have a great evening!

CatatonicSonic · 03/02/2016 14:51

How rude!!

HelpfulChap · 03/02/2016 14:58

Bang out of order. I would have been steaming. I have been in your dads shoes and filled in on a few occasions!

SavoyCabbage · 03/02/2016 14:58

She's terrible friend. 'Can't be bothered!'

Your Dad is going to see more sequins and orange faces than on any of his other birthdays.

Ilovenannyplum · 03/02/2016 15:01

I'd be fuming, what a knob

But on the positive, you get to have a lovely night with your dad
Hope you have a fabulous time, don't let her ruin it

hedgehogsdontbite · 03/02/2016 15:02

Annoyed? No I wouldn't be annoyed. I'd be absolutely livid and she'd be an ex friend.

Hope you have a fab time with your dad.

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2016 15:15

I would be livid too, and yes she would be an ex friend.

But her loss. I saw the show last week and it's brilliant, you will have a great night. I am excited for you. Grin

Really really bad of her. I'm not sure I'd get past that.

bessiebumptious2 · 03/02/2016 15:24

I'd have been taking my dad in the first place!

Optimist1 · 03/02/2016 15:25

Did you ask her if she wanted to go before booking?
Did she know the cost of tickets and agree to that (before you booked)?
Did you attempt to get payment from her once you'd booked?

If you answer YES to the above, then she's a cow; if it's NO then sadly you've been foolish.

I hope you get someone else to go with and enjoy your evening!

Waltermittythesequel · 03/02/2016 15:51

Telling you the way she did was bang out of order.

But did you just book these tickets without consulting her?

*Had to leave laptop for a while so if I've cross posted, apologies.

TheNaze73 · 03/02/2016 15:52

That is so disrespectful on so many levels. I wouldn't be fuming but, I'd bin them off as a friend

HarmlessChap · 03/02/2016 15:58

Rude, selfish and absolutely guarantees that you won't do anything for her in the future.

Yep, I would be livid too.

Floowho · 03/02/2016 16:03

Yes, want to know if you asked her before booking, as I have someone who books things and assumes I want to go. I've had to say to her twice about it. But she did leave it too late to tell you.

goddessofsmallthings · 03/02/2016 16:29

Missed your dad's significant number birthday! Here's Flowers Cake and Wine for him with many happy returns of the day.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/02/2016 17:06

Bloody hell that is really really bad by your "friend". I hope you and your dad enjoy the show
